29 days after he received it, he called up to inform us that he was going to return it and that we had offered to pay all freight, which we had at the time. "What was the problem?" I asked. "no problem" he said. "I'm just not ready to buy it for another 3 months but I appreciate the FREE demo". !!!!

Classic example of one asshole ruining it for everyone else.

Kudos to Mills for such great customer service.

Thanks very much. I don't think this fellow had any bad intentions. He just misinterpreted the spirit of our guarantee. Once we pointed this out he felt pretty bad and so we worked it out. It was a good thing and he has since sent several referrals to us. But it pointed out a glaring potential for more "misunderstanding" in an otherwise 100% no-risk "satisfaction guarantee". We wanted to protect our clients as much as possible and we still do. But again, thanks for the kudos.

And as to another comment regarding sending cabs out to Dealers for demos.....no, we don't do this and fortunately have no need to do so. We have cabs from one end of the US to the other. Just let us know where you are and chances are we can arrange a demo close by. Our main site link is in the sig...all emails come straight to Susie or me. We love talking TONE!

one thing going for the Mills, they have a satisfaction guarantee. If you don't think the cab is everything they claim it to be, you have 30 days to return it for a full 100% refund.

I didn't know this. Interesting. Thing is though the cost of shipping that thing back would have to be supa expensive.

Not as expensive as buying a piece of gear with no return policy. There are cabs being pushed on this forum that have no published satisfaction guarantee of any kind. You have to ask and then begrudgingly they agree (in some cases) to take it back as long as you pay shipping BOTH ways. I've emailed them and PM'ed them directly to ask their policy and they just don't seem to want to give an answer. Several others have told me they ran into the same response, or rather, lack of response in trying to avoid pissing away $1800.

We at least refund the shipping you paid in addition to the purchase cost. Also, to address another aspect...we used to offer to pay RETURN freight as well since we were pretty sure none would be coming back based on lack of satisfaction. And none came back, until one in particular. We sold a 412B to a client and he received the cab. We got a phone call, and emails telling us how much he loved what the cab did to his rig. 29 days after he received it, he called up to inform us that he was going to return it and that we had offered to pay all freight, which we had at the time. "What was the problem?" I asked. "no problem" he said. "I'm just not ready to buy it for another 3 months but I appreciate the FREE demo". !!!! Well, at least he was honest and rather than send back a cab he wanted and waste $250 in 2 separate freight trips, we ended up financing the damn thing.

So the moral of the story is that good intentions and a desire to provide the best in service and product, has it's limitations. There's only so much we can do. But I will say this, IF someone buys our product and truly is unhappy with it, we will be inclined to do all possible to make sure no one loses a nickel on a MILLS cab. All hi-end Builders should feel the same as far as we're concerned. But apparently some don't.

Who is pushing cabs here? Maybe I missed a thread but I have never seen anyone pushing cabs, we usually welcome builders here to explain their goods unlike kid forums like HCAF. I know Scumback has shown his 1969 cabs, which look incredible, but I have not seen any un-wanted badgering to buy them. At some point I am sure that one will show up close to me so that I can hear it.

End result is if someone buys an expensive piece of gear sight unseen well that is their problem imo, due to the great people that you can find on these forums there should be no reason why one cannot demo just about any piece of gear out there. I am traveling over 2 hours to get a shot at playing a Larry Dino due to the fact they are so rare around these parts, $50 bucks in gas is far less than spending to buy one and play the gear round-a-bout.

Your shipping policy is a great testement to you and your belief in your product but kids will take advantage of you many times in order to post about it on some forum which is sad.

Thanks. For one, a German Co with USA Rep has stated on this forum that "no cab can touch theirs". I promise you...it CAN be touched. To my definition, THAT is "pushing, promoting, selling, etc.". But that's OK...we all "push" our gear. At least we guarantee ours. That's my point, here.
Fortunately the forums are not an issue for us with kids because that's not our market. Their parents, Uncles or older brothers are most likely our Clients. I agree with you also....I too will drive 2-3 hours no problem to demo something I want. Anyway, good post and best to you in the unending quest for tone.

Thought there was supposed to be a cab shoot out a month or two back with Diezel. Did that ever happen?

Hey Steve. Yep, still very much in the planning stage and it won't be just Diezel. I know the mag is talking with A/V crews and they are checking into venues. Also one of the big Guitar builders may end up as overall sponsor. It could be done tomorrow just by dragging all these cabs into a studio. But, I know we'd prefer a "big venue" where they can be seriously opened up at volume. When everything gets worked out and scheduled eventually, it should be interesting. I wanted it to coincide with NAMM in January but now it may be in a different location and probably won't be until spring based on their current monthly issue schedules. But you can be sure announcements will be made. Meanwhile, PG/Guitar Edge called us a couple weeks ago and told us of a hi-gain monster AMP shoot-out in the works for this spring. They asked if we'd provide an Afterburner for the demos. So that will be cool as well.

How are things over there in the desert? Keeping the sand out of your shorts?

Cool. Looking forward to a good cab shoot-out with 5 or 6 popular amps auditioned through various 4x12 cabs. Everything is about the same over here in the litter box.

Steve

I am hoping someone brings a Mills to the Fortinfest, one guy has one but has not commited to bringing it yet.

Not required as there isn't much tourism here! Instead, they use logo's like, death by beheading for importation of drugs with intent to distribute. That and no "legal" booze tends to keep the beachcombers away :D

Plenty of whatever medicine you need is around though!

Scott - you need to get Mike Fortin and David Mills hooked up for the Ampfest. Bet Dave could send up an Afterburner 412 and see if the baffle can stand up to the punishment unleashed by a Fortin Bones!

Dave, this is Scott. Mike, this is Dave. Ummm, where do we plug in?

The Meathead would work that cab out hard, this I am sure of

I dont see why not, we will be there for 7 hours frying our ear drums anyways :D

You could do a amp/speaker shootout at our place NAMM week. We have talked to Mike and we are hoping to have a Meathead there by then. We have every Wizard model, SLOs, a Marsha, every Bogner new and old, DAR, 3 Monkeys, Scumback cabs, etc. Our W/D/W rig will be done by then so you could switch up to 8 amps into the a cab with the push of a button. Great for quick A/Bing.

And I'm sure we could get things there we may not carry. Just PM me if interested.

(And the Mills demo wasn't for the shop, but for me personally :) . In Orange, Ca.)
