Mitt Romney’s startling but familiar concession: The demagogues have won​


“A very large portion of my party really doesn’t believe in the Constitution.”

“I doubt my support will mean anything positive to any of the candidates at the finish line,” Romney said. “I’m not looking to get involved in that.”

And then, the most striking quote: “It’s pretty clear that the party is inclined to a populist demagogue message.”

This is a man who just a decade ago was his party’s choice for president saying his party has made its choice — and that the choice is demagoguery.

Romney built on this point in an excerpt — published Wednesday shortly after his retirement announcement — from Atlantic writer McKay Coppins’s forthcoming book about him.

Coppins writes that Romney has wrestled with the idea that Republicans had allowed a sleeping giant of authoritarianism — one Romney conceded might always have been there — to fester within their party.

“A very large portion of my party,” he told Coppins a few months after Jan. 6, “really doesn’t believe in the Constitution.”

He doesn't believe in the constitution. I knew in '12 if he got elected he would drum up bipartisan support for gun laws that ultimately pass so I was happy Obama got his re-election because everything he did received backlash and pushback because he was Obama. Mitt is such a slimy turncoat. He's more left than Obama when you do the digging and analyze his home state of Mass. He was peddling liberal policies effectively before anyone knew who Obama was. Guy is bad news but if I was a hard lefty I would love Mitt trying to pass as a republican. My I'm with Hillary bumper sticker is more conservative than Mitt.

You actually believe what Romney wrote ? Of course you're completely unaware of the real reason Romney hates Trump but I'll tell you because you simply aren't smart enough to figure it out yourself . Romney declared war on Trump ever since Trump refused to give him a cabinet position , Romney said he would destroy Trump by any means necessary due to that fact .

Romney blames that party for his ouster, the republican party had nothing to do with it . The American people are sending him home because of his choice in supporting the positions of democrats who's goal is to turn the country into a 3rd world dictatorship .
