I dont know, I think that the tone is good but Im not sure if I would call it anything special or hard to achieve...

Who said it is hard to achieve? He is plugged straight into a Mesa Boogie stack. Is Yngwie's tone hard to achieve? No. Plug in and crank it up. It is just good. Most good tone is not hard to achieve, in fact a lot of is requires a guitar, a cable, and an amp.

No one did, I did. I dont think that its anything special; pretty generic actually hence the reason that I added not hard to achieve... Does that bother you?

Not at all, why would it?

Honestly the whole band sounds generic to me, I never really could stand these guys. The "singer" just talks over most of their material. Different strokes for different folks I guess...

Rivers did get pretty formulaic after a point, but he even admitted that he put together a book where he was trying to do that. I mean the guy went to Harvard and at some point just put the whole rock star thing aside. He then got back to it. He is a bit odd, and in an interview was talking about how he started to analyze songs and how to write hits. It seem to work for him, but it did get a tad bit generic even for me and that is around the time I fell off. That said, the first bunch of discs are great. I think I have the first 4 or so. You are right though, everyone has their own thing. I know I sure as hell hate house music.

Oh god, house music   To me that's rock bottom as far as music goes. Then to top things off you have kids jumping around on ecstasy with glow sticks hanging out of every orifice...definitely the worst

IDK. Moore, Schenker, early VH, Lynch. Guys like that I loved because of their tone and playing. You like Weezer tone...cool! I like Green Day's tone.

One thing that might help bands like this dial in tone, is that they don't have to worry about a lead tone or anything else. Just 1 solid rhythm tone and probably just a head a 1 or 2 pedals. That's the benefit of simple music maybe.

are those diezel name plates on that halfstack changed to 'weezer?' lol

(0:21 has a good shot of it)

i think theyve done that to a lot of their amps and things...funny guys!

i can sympathize with the Weezer guys. guitar, cable, amp. ive tried and tried and tried to use effects and everything else, and honsetly i dont care. give me my amp, my footswitch, and my guitar and thats all i need. maybe a chorus too. adding all kinds of things to my signal chain either makes it too complicated, or just kills my tone. i like the tones i get straight in...nothing else. works for me! thats all that matters right?

and Weezer i believe was a side project band, or at least just one of the bands that these guys were in. i know the bassist had a band of his own, forgot the name, that he started back up after a couple Weezer albums. i dont know if he left Weezer for good or not, dont follow them too closely. and Rivers had his shredding/metal things. i mean, im a metal head, i love playing metal. but i also love all kinds of other music...if i could do multiple projects at once i would! im just a little too one-track-minded.

and this is one of my all time favorite Weezer songs...just hilarious! everyone remember it being on the Windows 95 disc? i do!

Lynch has not had that cutting tone in years, you are bringing up the past :) EVHs tone is not all that today either, no I have not given Ed any of my money but after 100s of vids on YT I still have not heard anything as solid or cutting as Weezer's live tone.

Superstar I expect nothing less than god tone.

Yes, Greenday has better tone than VH and Lynch as well

Well no, it's pretty simple - plug into a VH4 and play.

The tone is pretty f'n sweet for sure.

[EDIT: The whole vidclip ripped - it was tight, solid, fun, energetic, and sounded choice.]

Love Weezer. Simple, badass, rock n roll.

In bar gigs, the Weezer stuff we play gets more attention than any Foo Fighters we do. Years ago I realized that I'm a guitar player, but first and foremost I'm an entertainer. If you want to play out on a regular basis, you need chops for sure, but you have to be able to entertain because 90% of the crowd doesn't give a hoot about chops, tone and how much you spent on gear. And the guy that hires you, too. All he wants is to sell beer, and he hires you to do that, so you have to be able to play your instrument BUT you also need to drive that crowd nuts and entertain them, make them dance, slam, whatever. Weezer gives that to the crowd: energetic, simple but effective badass rock n roll.

But hey, that's my experience here where I live.
