Is it wise to do so? feeling wasted ? or is there a feel where it shouldnt be cause its already good on its own with its distinct flavour and character?

I don't see why people mod expensive amps, you might aswell let a good amp builder build you a totally custom amp for that price.

And no I don't think there's any need to mod a Fryette amp, they sounds so unique so I actually think it's stupid. Just get another amp instead, if you don't like how they sound.

If the amp doesn't satisfy you you have two choices sell or mod.

Do what works best for you.

I often hear modding a boutique amp is stupid. To me that statement is stupid.

The line of thinking is that because it is boutique it is already perfect or cant be improved. Assinine!

My bogner twin jet will be heading off to mike fortin soon.

Why? Because it's 90% of the way there, mike will address my issues and i will have the amp that suits my needs best. Boutique, non boutique whatever.

It's your gear, you should do what ever you need to to get it where you want it to be. The only thing it will effect is resale, and that good go either way.

What he said. And +1 on sending it to Fortin.

i had a loop and the more/ less made foot switchable on my vht d120 made a great amp even better

If I had a Fryette and wanted to mod it and found out that Fortin could do it. I would rather sell my Fryette and buy a Fortin amp! Or let anyone else build me a custom amp that sounds exactly like I want. Sure if it's a very small mod, then I could do it but if it's a major one I don't see the reason for it and why would someone want a certain name on the amp when it sounds more like another brand? If it's a big modification that would most likely be the case.

If I modded amps myself I would certainly mod my Fryette and all my other amps I have :)

kinda true it money certainly plays a factor on "branded mods" but who knows ? i have seen a modded Bogner and come to know about voodooamps on the "VHT" thing...

Which model? Like it was said before adding a loop to an amp that doesnt have one makes sense. Modding my CL-50, doesn't. It's got so many freekin buttons, and setting, its like your modding it when your dialing it!
My vintage modern on the other hand......
I do know VHTs are messy/difficult mods due to the complexity inside....

I can understand it if the amp is 90% there and they know *exactly* what they want. What I don't understand, and this goes for inexpensive amps too, is when people want to do a mod for the sake of doing a mod. There are regular posts asking "should I mod this amp?" but there's seeminly no real goal, direction or idea of exactly what's lacking or what is desired.
