Just picked up a 2010 MC from a forum member. The amp sounds incredible. I have a VC so I already had an idea of how these sound, but this one takes the cake for sure.

Right now I am using the footswitch from my SLO and there is a loud pop when switching to the clean channel. Please note my basement is a little dry right now and theres quite a bit of static electricity going on. All my amps are a little noisier right now, but the pop seems a little much.

Do I need a special footswitch for this amp? Any suggestions?

Thank you!

I have two MC's and neither make a pop when I change channels.....have you tried another footswitch?

I don't think I have another single button, but I'm try one of my 2 button switches. Does it matter whether you plug into the top or bottom footswitch jack? It's making the noise in both, but if there's a reason I should use one of the other I will.

Does it pop when you use the push/pull channel select on the front of the amp? If so, that's a common issue with the amps and it's just the way they are. Both of mine did it although it was much, much louder on my older Modern Classic.

Yes it does pop when I use the push/pull selector as well. Keep in mind this only happens when going from gain to clean, but not the other way around.

If it's normal then theres nothing that I can do, but why would it happen to some and not others? Right now the room is dry and theres a lot of static so I wonder if this just compounds the problem?

I owned a Modern Classic from 2008 and one from late 2009. The 2009 didn't Pop like the 2008 did and the Master Volume was improved greatly. I would imagine it's something that was updated along with the changes to the Master Volume. Your amp was probably made before these changes.

FWIW the better sounding of the two was the older one, regardless of the channel pop and less useable Master Volume.

I believe it is because the unused channel is not shunted to ground and it is something Rick has recently rectified. You might try emailing Wizard directly to inquire how to rectify it.

I just emailed them. If he's on tour with AC/DC is there someone else that responds? I've read a post where you said that you haven't spoke with him in 3 months. I hope thats not the norm for a response.

It's definitely not the norm, you should hear from him shortly.. Hopefully.

To be honest more people have said that it's normal, including one of his dealers. I did email Rick and his immediate reply was to send it to him to take a look at it. I really do not want to send it to Canada. I bought it used, but it's a 2010 that has seen little use. I really wish he would have given me a little more detail and perhaps suggested sending it to a qualified tech. Sending it back to Canada to a person who is quite busy with another gig (AC/DC) just doesn't seem like the best move.

Another forum member suggested sending it to FJA mods stating that they can fix this issue. Not sure why Rick wouldn't say that it was normal when so many others state that it is. Very strange. Aside from this the amp sounds amazing.

Your in great hands if you send it to Rick. I just got mine back not to long ago.

He's not touring and is deep in production of the new model amps. He is 100% into the amp thing right now.

Pop or no pop this amp Rocks! I'm amazed at how well the overdrive channel can clean up from pretty high gain. No one ever mentions that. A different clean than the ultra sparkly clean channel of course, but very nice.

The best clean I've ever heard in a switcher, high gain or not.

I seriously miss my MC.

Man this amp sounds good! All the clips I've found are with the gain up pretty high, but this amp does some fantastic mid-gain tones. So fat I like the gain on 7 with the boost in and I use my guitar's volume to go from hairy cleans to classic crunch to 80's metal. All settings are super clear. Just a fun amp to play.
