Hello All,
I just signed on with a 80's new wave/poprock cover band.
We're covering everything from Aha to Rick Springfield, Journey, and even Bon Jovi.
I'm looking to add an M4 to my rack to use for the new gig.
What modules would get me the most tones for that genre?
I already have an SL2 and TD.

Thanks

I figured the SL2 would be great for the bands you mentioned, a lot of the other modules will kind of be variations on a Marshall theme...

Anyway, from my experience, I would ABSOLUTELY pick up a VX. Perfect for the jangly and mid-gain tones.
I really think you need the SL, too. It's just a great complement to the higher gain modules. The EG5 has a Soldano-ness to it;
however, I have never played an SL2, so I don't know how close they are in voicing. But, another good flavor with great cut.
Or maybe the Scorch module - check out the bstaley video - great sounding mids in that one!

A touch of chorus on your T/D will probably get you a lot of the new-wave vibe.

Thanks for the input...
The only thing I've been thinking about is how much of the 80's over chorused clean tone I'll be able to get with the TD....it does it, but I was curious if another module would get closer...like Trevor Rabin.

I'm trying to keep it a simple set up....of course adding the M4 will make nothing simple, hahah

who in the world can sing that Aha Take on Me? That sounds tough!

Well we've got one of the best singers I've heard here in Nashville.
But I think our backing track may have some help for him on that specific part, lol
