Chris, if you can't get the amp to sound the way you want, stop using that crappy LP and use a real guitar.

Dear Bob,

Are you having delusions again?

Sincerely,

Chris

LOL! It just popped out. I was at Hollingsheads the other night talking with my drummer buddy MD's guitar player and my ex-brother in law who also plays and I was telling them how horrible of a guitar the LP is. Of course, they both love them which is why it was so fun. :D

Chris, I'm glad it got there OK. I'll tell you something funny. When I packed it, I had it in 2 white garbage bags, but I took it out of them coz I thought you would think it was silly!

Spend time with it, get used to what it does, and you wont be disappointed. Promise!

btw, UL got here just fine. I'm started a new thread right now......

Damn Thump I wanted to hear some clips. Don't even have a camcorder around?

I do have a camcorder, but don't I need to have some sort of adapter to get the video from the tape into the PC?

Mine has a USB port. I just download mine to youtube. Isn't the best sounding but it's something.

Just spent a little more with it and it's pretty cool. I need ALOT more time, though.

How's the gain Chris?
More than a Super Lead?

Keith

Yeah, for sure. I'm running into the low sensitivity input with everything maxed, except the bass tone on 2 and the bass channel volume on zero. Setup like this, it has quite a bit more distortion than the 1959SLP RI, 1987X RI, or '70s SuperBass I've owned in the past. I'm surprised at just how much it has, to be honest. I "think" I could get by without even using an OD pedal. I'm not for sure about that yet, though. I need alot more time with the amp before I "get it."

So is the gain more comparable to a 2203 style or is it somewhere in between a 2 hole and 4 hole?

Sone of a bitch, dude! That white GMW is freaking killer!!! Have you had that for long? That's my style RIGHT THERE. Awesome guitar (the other guitar and amp rocks too, but that white GMW really turns my crank.)

Those were two of the last Stratheads out of the GMW shop....the rosewood neck went on the silver body...I sold it (but I'm plotting its return   )

The maple is on the white body now:

FWIW - out of the dozen or so GMW's I owned, thi sis far and away the best sounding and playing, and is actually a GMW Mutt if you consider the neck swap   MAGIC neck on this one

Hows the amp? Hows your ears ?

Sweet. Congrats. Thats one of the few amps I'd be curious about.

With its line out (on the gut shot it looks that it has one), I'd hook it to the HP and slave it into the VHT (if that has a loop-return).

For that the PB IMO is fine, yes. It just clear-amplifies the signal, a thing SS-amps can do pretty well.

I bet a dry wet rig with this configuration sounds killer.

The good news is that I already have the stuff to do the wet/dry thing (Crate Powerblock, Rocktron Intellifex LTD, Antone 2x12 or second VHT D412), so I need to try this soon. I wouldn't gig with all that crap, though. I'd just go dry before I'd take tons of stuff with me.

But for home, I bet that sounds sick. I'll give it a shot soon.

Chris

What I do to tame the savageness that is the Peacemaker is this:

I ran it W/D/W w/ a Boogie Simul395 power amp, Hot plate and an Intellifex, while my rack was with Bob Bradshaw.

I set the hotplate to load (effectively making it stereo not W/D/W, and controlled the over all output volume with the intellifex's output volume knob. I ran the Peacemaker's line out into the intellifex, and L/R out of the intellifex, into the power amp, w/ an Electro Harmonix LPB2 set to about 1 o'clock, in front of the Peacemaker. (3) Marshall 4x12 cabs w, Celestion G12-H30's. GLORIOUS.

The Crate will work fine. The power amp definitely makes a difference in the overall tone result though. I liked the Simul395 as it added the Simul-Class factor to the power equation, and made everything thicker.

Good stuff! But see, I'm only talking about using the Powerblock for the 100% wet signal. It will just amplify the reverb and/or delay and that's it. The dry amp tone will still come from the Peacemaker.

Seems like the quality of the poweramp when used like this wouldn't matter TOO much, as long as it's powerful enough to not distort. The cool thing is that the Powerblock can be stereo or mono, so I could have a W/D/W thing going. :)

If you can run 2 cabs L/R w/ the crate, and you set the hotplate on the PM to load, you will be running stereo, as the middle dry will be non-existent, then just adjust the effects mix level on the intellifex to make for a good blend, and you'll witness magic happen. I promise. I understand what you are doing, that is what I do too, what I'm describing is just for when you really want to tame the volume to TV levels and still get that mojave savage Brown tone-tone.

When you guys talk dirty like this, I want a Peacemaker too!
I've got all the goods to try this... Maybe I'll try one of my old Marshalls and see how it sounds.

Hi Keith

Hi Olaf!!
How u do'n Bro??!!

Keith ;)

50cm of snow last night and today!!
I've been shovelling all last night and today...
I'm getting old!

We're all fine, Keith, thanks for asking.

Not an inch of snow this year so far - I don't care too much really, but for the kids its a huge disappointment as you can imagine.

Okay, right now I'm running this:

LP Custom > Mojave Peacemaker > THD HotPlate > VHT D412 cab (100% dry)
Line Out of Mojave > Rocktron Intellifex > Crate PowerBlock > Antone 2x12" (100% wet)

HOLY MOTHER F'ER!!! This sounds freaking incredible! I have the PowerDampening on the Mojave at 100% (no power dampening), the HotPlate on -12db and the bass boost engaged.

Freaking killer tone right now!!!!

Chris

Very cool, Chris!!
I bet it sounds H U G E !!!

That's the way to run it Chris. NO POWER DAMPENING AT ALL! Just the Hot Plate with the Bass Boost engaged. My PM doesn't even have Power Dampening because I just personally don't care for it.

It does, it does!!! Very cool sound having the reverb coming from one cab and the dry tone coming from another. I messed with this once before too, but only for an hour or something. It's like the EVH stuff where reverb is in one speaker and dry in the other. Same thing, I guess.

  Told ya... :D

Congrats, and welcome to the brotherhood of Mojave Goodness.

I've always wanted to try one of those but never got around to it.

Glad you're liking it. I need to try that wet dry thing sometime.

WARNING, once you do, it'll forever change your way of looking at tone

Yup this is what I do with my DSL and w/d/w it with three 4x12's! Sounds fucking huge with the simul class of the boogie mixing with the marshall.
I have tried both SS and tube power amps and as the volume gets louder and louder with the wet effect cabs to the dry you will find that a tube power amp sounds a little warmer and sweeter. Just my opinion and findings though. If you don't have the wet cabs up as loud or have the mix at 100% and doing it that way then I found that it's very hard to tell the difference.
