Monster Pro 3500--Is it just me or...

...does it not exactly line up in a rack? I tried to put mine in in an 8-space rack that I have and I had to off-set it by 1/2 RU at the top and bottom which effectively turns my 8-space into a 7-space. Anybody else experience this or are my racking skills completely off?

Last time I checked 1 RU is 1.75" so at 3.44" this is over 2 RU, right?

1.75 x 2 = 3.5 so it should fit in 2 space with a smidge of room left over. That is, if Monster measured right, or cared what you think.

I have an old Ibanez 2-space rackmount delay/flanger like that. Only fits in one spot in my 4-space rack. But it has like, a million bucket brigade chips and sounds amazing.

Then other than my questionable arithmetic skills the rack holes must be offset as to allow for ventilation (or something) above and below...
