Back about12 years ago or more, the Moollon Chorus was quite popular with pedal enthusiasts. I got one and I have to say its fantastic and unique. I particularly like that it has a high-fi quality and separate controls for wet and dry. It certainly different than all my other chorus pedals. I mainly use it from time to time in the studio.

The only down side to having it on a pedal board is the size, I don't mind the size except it's rather tall. I'm pretty sure its the tallest pedal I have, and I own A LOT of pedals..

How many of you guys have one?
What do you think?
Do you still use it?
If not, Why?
If you got rid of it, why?

Never heard of it. Very cool looking unit though.

They were popular with a segment of pedal fans for a few years, but werent commonly known like the bigger and more popular companies. For some reason the company never quite took off in spite of making very good, reliable and well built pedals. The price was kind of high so that was probably a factor.

It is really attractive. The etching looks better in person. The chorus effect itself is awesome. I have about 20 Chorus pedals, it's one of my favorites. It does a lot more than just the standard "I want to sound like the 80's" thing.

I just want Alex Lifeson's sound that's all over Hemispheres.

Closest I got was the Boss Waza re-issue CE-2.
I'm not even sure what he was using on Hemispheres for Chorus back then. Do you know? If I had to guess it was the 70's Boss CE1 Chorus Ensemble. If that's the case have you tried the "Retro Sonic Chorus Ensemble"? I have one of the early mono ones. It's really really good. Sounds really really close to the CE-1 if you ask me. Not near as noisy either. It's a killer pedal. They made a later version that has stereo outs too.

I am one of the few guys who doesn't like the Boss Ce2 or Ce3. Never have. I got rid of the Ce2 years ago, still have a ce3 for the studio if someone else wants to use it. I can listen to other guys playing it and its fine and when I play it I just cant seem to gel with it. How does the Ce2 Waza version differ? I haven't had a chance to play through one yet.

From what I've read the CE-1 is right. Will check that pedal out.

I've never played a real CE-1.
My test is that first chord in the song Hemispheres (Petrucci's favorite chord)
The CE1 setting sounds spot on BUT - and it's a huge but, the signal level ratio is whacked.
Less on the CE2 setting but that doesn't sound right.

You could not gig alone with the waza and expect to turn the CE1 setting on/off without
also having some kind of level compensation happening too.
It's that drastic. Real drag.

I wasn't aware of that issue but I haven't heard a lot about the ce2 Waza. That's a real drag and disappointing. I expect better from Boss. As much flack as some guys who prefer boutique pedals give Boss, they are one of the best pedal makers as far as I am concerned. I own a ton of them. Built like tanks and sound fantastic (except as noted before I just don't like the chorus).
