Any amp you have to boost with a Tube Screamer is NOT in the most brutal amp category!! :D

* Another vote for the Uberschall's (any of them)

* Fryette Ultralead w/EQ is pretty darn brutal

I'm over 40 so give me a break ! I can't keep up with these damn kids ! LOL

Shame on you for being old.

5150 (not a booster myself, but it makes it even angrier...Maxon 808)

Not big into the boost pedal thing...and while a 5150 can be brutal, to me the low end falls apart with the volume up...dual or triple rectumfriers are very cool, but fizzy up top. I have a Herbert MK3 and it is brutal, but it's the TIGHTEST amp I've ever played. I'd love to find an amp as brutal as a Herbert with the "spongy" low end of a rectifier..a little more forgiving. I've owned a VHT pit bull classic and it was good, but the ultrlead with the graphic eq was better. Waiting on the new Fortin Randalls...we'll see how those turn out.

What else 'yall got ???

While it is completely ridiculous, the Diezel Herbert on channel 3, gain dimed, mid cut engaged, depth cranked, and playing with some volume, is probably the most brutal amp around. These settings are totally over the top, but playing the amp this way with a seven string makes people giggle   and sigh :aww: at the same. For BREWTALZ, I can't see anyone taking a 5150 or anything else for that matter, over a Herbert as long as the Herbert has the 12ax7ac5 hg+ preamp tubes(which come stock) if $ wasn't an issue. The mid cut and huge headroom make it comical, if you want.

5150 or recto boosted
had a framus dragon for awhile it was pretty mean as well
herbert... it needs nothing
on the cheap those old marhsall valvestate 8100's are pretty mean as well

So far the Herbert is the only amp mentioned that doesn't need a boost.
Ever played the SE? It's a Herbert +10%. Seriously. Ran em side by side too. Copped very similar metal tones...

Never tried the SE, and not trying to pimp the Herbert, but the power sections of the amps have a major impact on low end. I'm skeptical the SE could compete with Herbert in regards to over all low end/tightness. Preamp gain sure, but that's only half of it. I'm commenting out of ignorance though, I've tried every other amp mentioned in this thread except the Engl. Maybe Engl has devised a way to push the low end with less power?

The 5150 to me is easily the most brutal amp ever made. It's mids are just crushing, grind for days. The uberschall is right up there as well. Again. It's snarly and grinding is just nasty as hell sounding, and its high end is very unique.
