This is the last record I have purchased this year...

Gotta be honest, I'm old as shit and listen to classic stuff.....but that sounds cool as hell! :)

Fucking bad ass awesome love it love Metallica can't wait for the tour go ahead kirk use that wah that solos awesome and makes me want to play guitar

it's the best thing since the garage days ep
which is the last thing i liked
kirk was ok on ride the lightning and muppets-it fit the tunes
he never got better ,practiced or improved-he;s on permanent auto pilot
lars will and still sucks
imagine that band with lombardo or __________ killer drummer

I haven't liked Metallica since the Black album. Sure I'm no Kirk Hammett fan as far as his LEAD playing is concerned but I will still support Metallica for 2 reasons. 1. RTL and MOP are still 2 of the greatest metal albums ever. 2. Metallica is still helping the metal genre and carrying the torch. They will only help other metal bands along the way.

And for as much flak as Kirk takes for his lead playing has the guy ever said a bad word about anyone ever? What if he had an ego like Yngwie? Kirk seems like a stoner you'd meet at a backyard keg party. It would have been easy for him to have bad mouthed Mustaine but seems like Dave was the one who had a lot to say.

Anyway, I liked the last album and this one sounds even better.

And your band is who? You have sold how many records? Go ahead and admit it, you already pre-ordered the record right? I won't tell anybody, your street red is still in tact.

I haven't bought a Metallica album since Master of Puppets. I didn't bash Metallica for their success. I said that, in my opinion, James and Lars are crybaby bitches. I also said that I do not think they have written any good songs since the black album. I never once said anything about Kirk.

I never said they suck.

I never said I was better than they are.

I only gave my opinion.

I don't like this song, The chorus sounds autotuned and it's a formula song.

In My Opinion.............

This is the last record I have purchased this year...

Gojira is awesome, but I'm sure they're huge Metallica fans. Myself, this is my favorite song I've heard new in a while.

I think it sounds pretty damn good. Nothing exciting or new though, but what do you expect. I am sure they are content at this stage of their lives and have other interests!!! On that note, thank goodness that bands like Testament still put out kick ass music!!!!

Alex Skolnick is a MONSTER.

Definitely!! Now that is a guitarist I can listen to for solos and Eric Petersen writes some killer riffs!!!

Nice to see most gushing over the new stuff. These two singles really don't do much for me personally. Not horrible, but nothing great IMO. And, as for those defending Kirk for the continuing flak he receives...well, how can you really blame them. Until he steps up and actually approaches being the lead player in one of the biggest bands in a serious manner, he's going to continue getting grief. That solo was trash, what can I say?

Kirk has phoned it in since 1991, thats the most disappointing part for me.
He used to be a great lead player in the early years with some of the most memorable and inspiring melodic lead work of the genre, solo's I wanted to learn and learn from. His memorable lead work has been totally forgettable for album after album. Seems like such a waste of his position and opportunity as the Lead player for a mammoth Metal band, so much potential to reach aspiring lead players, but he traded his melody and structure for 'lively' and 'improvised' feel.
From all the Studio videos I've seen in the last 25 years Lars seems to be the architect of all his lead work. Kirk should go back to doing what he was doing on KEM, RTL, MOP and AJFA.
#Make Metallica Leads great again !!

Loving the tone and production on the new album though.

Good to see James IIC+ in the film clip !!

I'm really digging it! So far both new songs are great, can't wait for the new album!

Good song. Vocals were strong. For all of Lars shortcomings, no one else could accent James's riffs in the same way. It's a very distinguishing Metallica trademark thats been there from day one & something that otherwise better drummers may not do as well.

I like it. But I really enjoyed Death Magnet as well and alot of guys shit on it.

Have to check it out when it drops.

Death magnetic is awesome I listen to the album quitea bit actually

Kirks shitty tone annoys me more than his lazy playing. He whores out sig amps that sound like garbage while James sticks to the good old mesa mk's for the most part. James should be in charge of writing more of the solos too. But overall it's still the best they've done in a long time.

I like it and dont mind the lead. Its just the way he plays kind of rock n roll lead player. There are so many lead type riffs throughout song so if he did some polished intricate hammeron lead it may not fit the song. We should get the bare tracks and all do a lead over it and see what we would come up with. Regardless its very hard for bands to match their level of greatness from the past and I feel this song delivers a good 2016 metallica song

James hasn't used a Mesa Mark amp in about 20 years.

James' main amp for the last 10 years or so has been the Diezel VH4... much darker, more bass, compressed tone compared to a Mesa Mark. They sound very different. Occasionally a Triaxis preamp to Mesa Strategy poweramp.

Sorry but you are dead wrong. Look at any of the recent studio pics. He's blending the VH4 with his old IIC+ and a Wizard MC.

Not from what I've seen or hear. You you have em... post em. If he is, he needs more MKIIC+ then in the mix.
