Has anyone actually played the Motor City Dragon Suit pickups? What do they sound like? What sort of output do they have? Are these available for sale from MCP?

Believe me - I emailed Wade these same questions, but he's not exactly known for his communication skills. I'm hoping that someone here may have better 411. Thanks.

Didn't know that they existed. It would be nice if he'd update his fucking website once every decade or so.

 never even heard of it and i am really in touch with pu's
Wade needs to advertise more and get a better customer service so emails get answered
and whatever.
sorry i cant help

I know that Dave and Brent over at Friedman are freaking out about these pickups. . .saying they're Wade's best work yet.

I loved MCP in 2010ish. After so much trouble getting information, and some poor dealings with wade I'll only buy used or another maker. Have tons of boutiques at this point but only a few MCP.

I would love to try some new ones but not without a great website and customer service, until then I'll pay the premium elsewhere where the premium actually exists.

Well, I can't speak for Dimarzio, as I have no experience. But I have a ton of experience with SD pickups - Custom, CC, C5, 59, etc. In my opinion, Wade's pickups have way more detail, character, and clarity than SD pickups. Enough for the up charge? You be the judge. Personally speaking, I think that Wade's pickups just destroy most everything else.

Wade did finally get back to me. He said that the Dragon Suit (not formally released) is a hotter pickup with very pronounced mids. I'm in.

He has been saying an updated website will be up soon for a few years now lol...I would have bought more pickups from him if his site and customer service was better. With all that being said he may be happy with the amount of business he has had , as far as I know he is a one man operation. Its possible he doesn't want to have a large production and work load........

I'm just assuming though, maybe Wade can shed some light on the subject. I have personally bought a lot of Bare Knuckle pickups because they're website has a layout that makes sense, they're pickup models don't change or dissapear , they just add new models to there lineup when they have a new design and they're customer service is outstanding.

Did he mention if these are Ceramic, Alnico 5, 2, etc ?

He did not. He did say that they are closer to 10k in output.

My only experience with Wade was outstanding.
Emailed him about a sound I was going for. He emailed back, gave me options, and went with it.

And updated site would be nice for sure.
Course I say that while my own site is probably over 15 years old

Dimarzios are for guys that consider riffs to be something they play in between solos and Duncans only sound good in Les Paul's/Mahogany guitars and EMG's sound the same in a 2x4 as they do in a $2000 guitar.

You'd be surprised at what big pickup makers haven't thought of.

I think plenty of Duncan's sound good in Alder, Ash etc. And DiMarzio SDs are killer as well. I have played an Afwayu and I can hear the love for it..sounded thick and rich..can't comment on EMGs though. Hell, I got a Hamer Diablo with the stock JB and I never knew a JB could sound so good.

Those are huge blanket statements with no facts presented, broseph..

I don't doubt that dudeman makes a good product. Being a fellow Detroiter, I wish him all the best. Besides, isnt it the goal of a manufacturer to market their product to anyone that they can attach themselves too? This moves a lot of product, which enables them to to invest in new development and expansion.

So my whole point was that the big guys have the time, experience and the bux. But if there is a new stone unturned, I was interested in knowing what that was.

Wade made me a killer Afwayu and Angel dust set worth the wait.
