My Diezel just OPENED up and came to life!!
Wish I was exaggerating.....

I want to put one in my silo special (alder, maple neck and fretboard) and I'm fairly certain that will work out well since that guitar sounds beastly with anything I've ever put in it. My JP on the other hand (basswood, maple neck, rosewood fretboard) is pretty hard to coax a tone out of, anyone tried the Afwayu in basswood? My gut is telling me it wouldn't be a perfect match for some reason.

Ok...I'm sold.

Now, they just need o start making 7-string sets

They do make 7 string sets.

Hrm....I didn't see anything on their site about 7 string sets.
I'm guessing you have to call them up to get the details?

The Solution is definitely more metal. The bottom is tighter than an Afwayu, too. Tone loss? Shit dude, tone increase is more like it!

Now you have to go threw all the amps you got rid of because of................................ :D

afwayu rules
I was afraid of it sounding too fat and dark in my '73 lp custom, but it's tight and balanced
I'm also very happy with the 2nd degree black belt for the neck position

I still miss the bk holy diver I had in another les paul, though
it was like the afwayu, but warmer and less "mean", with a beautiful "cantrell meets tool meets EVH" vibe

After re-playing the guitar. I think I am set. I mean.....we dont do any Drop C UBER Metal.
Hardest stuff we play is some Slayer and Pantera(I ran thru some riffs today and it sounded EXCELLENT with the Afwayu)
and we do alot of Van Halen, Dokken, AC/DC, KISS, etc.....so I dont need it to be SUPER METAL. And I was getting some damn good EVH Tone out of this pickup today.
I feel good about this one.

Thats cool man. I like it when you find your favorite pickup first. that's what happened to me with My Hell Baby bridge, it was the first one I tried and wound up being my favorite after trying a few more.

Ok.........had a full weekend of playing it.
Not bedroom setting but Full Band practice. Gig level.
This is the best I have heard EVER!!
Such a great break from the EMG's...... These pickups bring the TONE!!!
Doing the old stand by's.....KISS ..... AC/DC.....DOKKEN.....METALLICA.....
was like a FRESH BREATH!!!
Best jam session I have had ever!!!
This Pickup is MY TONE....and I dont know what else to say. It can do METAL and and HARD ROCK with ease.
And it sounds Superb! I am in a BLISS ZONE....and thats where I will leave this thread at.

Its only Rock -N- Roll................ ;)

Dan
