I checked out a few vid's of mark day using these pu's(sounded awesome!) and read some threads here about them and i am very interested in these for my charvel.
In particular the detroiter and the T wreak?
Which of these two will have the better "cut" with good punch, sustain and harmonics through a marshall JVM?
looking for a 1977-78 EVH type tone where the treble is screaming but had that midrange body and growl like he got on eruption?
Guitar is a alder charvel 2 hum san dimas with a gotoh 1996 floyd.
I have a real old duncan 59 in the neck now that fits this guitar so i just need a bridge pu.
thanks!

listen to mark day in a be100 video with the motor city hot head, it sounds super fat and punchy. its a bit hotter than the Detroiter and t wreck. both those are pretty cool also.

Afwayu in my Charvel custom sounds great. Full range pup...good mids, lows and highs.

I had both the Twreck and Detroiter in the same guitar and spent a lot of time with each. Both are two of my favorite lower wind pickups, but I prefer the Twreck. I haven't played them through a JVM, but here's my comparison with them through a few other amps, and the take away was always the same.

Better Cut - I'd say Twreck pretty easily here. The treble is more full spectrum and more cutting without being shrill. The Detroiter has more of a smoother, rolled off treble in comparison, but still cuts no problem.

Good Punch - Both have good punch for a lower output, but I'd be inclined to say Detroiter here by a small margin. It has a little more heft in the low mids and is has just a touch more output.

Sustain - About the same, but I'd say Detroiter here because of the extra heat. However, you can make this up with the Twrecks by turning up the amp gain.

Harmonics - The Twreck has a more harmonically complex tone. Pinch harmonics are just as easy on either pickup.

Motor city 2nd degree black belt is the pickup you want

Man, it's up there, but the Garudo gives it a run for its money, IMHO. I love both and can't go wrong with either. I like the Detroiter as well to mix things up.

Thanks man you did a killer job at detailing the two i am interested in
going by your description the T-wreak is the first one i will try(i want the sharper treble response model)
I will still get a detroiter after to compare.

I have a set of Detroiters and a set of Hot Heads.
I don't know how they fare for VH tones, but I really dig them for what I play.
I emailed Wade and told him what I wanted from each guitar, and he absolutely nailed it.
I'm now a huge fan of Wade's work.

Both bridge models have all the qualities you are seeking... Punchy and percussive on the lows. Thick but cutting highs.
It's really impressive how Wade gets these pickups to stay so composed and clear on the wound strings, yet juicy and thick on the unwound strings.
And both models also have some of the nicest grind and growl of any pickup I've tried before. Really complex, rich and vocal sounding.

Compared to BKP Black Dog and VH2 pickups I've had in the same guitars, harmonics are much easier to coax out with the MCP's.
And the sustain and saturation were also much better after swapping in the MCP's.

The Solution is a pretty damn good pickup, mine has an alnico magnet. But, I like the new SD black winter and Nazgul pickups, so much so that at this point I have no interest in buying anymore "boutique" pickups for the premium they cost.

Just my opinion here but I had the hot head set in a guitar and they were horrible. I tried them for at least 3 months and hated them. I changed to the Suhr SSH+ and the Aldrich neck and LOVE them. The hot heads were just very dead sounding to me.

Well the SSH+ is a super bright pickup & the hothead is not a bright pickup, sounds like you should have went the brighter route.

THere are just so many pup builders now, absolutely no reason to settle anymore...Wolftone, Bare Knuckle, Wagner, Suhr, hell even Bogner is making them now!!!

Bogner isn't making them, Arcane is. It's simply a marketing ploy.
