Moving away from amps to rack units

Sold most of my amps and got into rack units. All I kept was a Mark IV, Sig:X and a Kraken.

They take up less space, but I also find it fun to try out odd combinations, like an Engl 530 a VHT 2902 or Mesa Boogie Rectifier Stereo 2:100.

Also have an Axe FXIII, trying to figure out a system where I can swap in and out amps that I want to pair with it, but I figure I'd need an amp switching system and thaf can get expensive.

I definitely to rack up the units, it's the Leaning Tower of Pisa, ready to crush someone's foot, most likely mine.

All those rack units stacked up makes me nervous, but that's a lot of tone!
Yeah, tonnes of fun. I need to rack it up asap though.

*cough cough* keeping in mind possible g*y undertones (there's a current thread about it, and let me stress there's no harm in having a sexual preference one way or another), "I've shown you mine, guys, now show me yours" hahaha

I always liked rack gear; what I used back in the day for guitar and bass; I had full ADA rigs for each.

My 2000s metal rig, I chose an Engl rack: E530 tube preamp (now sold), E850/100 dual 100W tube power amp (still have) and a pair of Engl PRO 212VHB cabs.

The cabs are now used with my Engl Artist Edition 100; or my ISP Theta Pro / MS-X and E850/100.

When I decided on a JP-2C over the Mark VII, I got the rack version; and use my HX-Effects, or now GX-100 in 4CM, into a Mesa compact 2x12.

I'm still using my computer rig more than any other gear, but don't want to sell any of my tube amps yet...though I plan to put information cards on each one - model, what I paid, if it was new or used, and my opinion on the minimum my heirs should try to get from selling it...same for my guitars and keyboards....unless I sell them myself.

Hahah. I don't use any rack stuff, I am old school as it gets. But I have in the past and you have some cool stuff for sure.

Man, I have a 12 or 16 space rack i'm not using atm, ill sell ya for cheap :dunno:

I love your stuff but that stack makes me super nervous

I love rack stuff and have too much of it also, lol. I have some smaller cases, but wondering if it would be more space saving just getting a bigger case that sits on wheels in the corner.

2 things turned me off rack amps. The fan noise in the studio when recording (I like my amps with me when tracking)

And I couldn’t work out how to bias my Fryette 2902 myself

Love rack effects tho!

Alas, I've moved back to India from Singapore (divorce, leading to loss of residence rights and loss of job) and shipping and more importantly customs will kill me. Plan to just get one off the internet, but right now, I'm trying to figure out my next steps. Thanks for the offer though.

No worries, just trying to throw ya a bone!

Cool gear, that’s going to be great when you get it all together. I’m doing a similar thing with Synergy and AxeFx3. My studio Desk has two 8U racks so they’re all in there.

I also want a Synergy system. And while I'm still dreaming, I'd also like to ride out on the horse I rode in on haha

I love rack pre-amps and amps. Always have since I got my first one years ago. These days, my SLO-100R and X88-IR both work and sound amazing for me! I've never been happier and those have eliminated me wanting anything else.

I've gone nearly 100% rack. The only conventional amps I've got are a Victoria fender semi-clone and a JP2C I probably sell. Plus an amp for my daughter.

The Vicky is very dependent on the pine cabinet which justifies a standalone.

I'm digging my SM100R and X88IR a lot right now. The Fortin Killer Kali module too.
