Hey Carl....Did you finish that demonstration video for the RP1000? If so do you have a link for me?

Also....any news from Digitech on new stuff for NAMM or is that on the DL?

Sup Bro!!

I think that Carl completed that video and it was on the guitar world DVD. Im not sure if there is a link or not but maybe Carl will be around later on to answer!
With that said, there is a link to a killer lesson he did and I can post it if you want!

Hope all is well!

Thanks Ralphie......I think I saw that one lesson vid on Guitar World Site, but I didn't know if he did an in depth review type video for it or not? Wasn't sure.....?

I am kinda interested in the RP1000. I have a Rocktron Xpression now, and the other day messing with it was trying to get a Plate reverb but realized it doesn't let you change reverb or delay types?  But I do like the feature of analog or digital signal path, cuz I don't always like having a digital sound, especially during rhythm parts.

But I also use my effects units to attenuate my amps, so I like having a Input & Output control knobs on the front.

If Carl used the RP1000 on his DVD in front of the Bones, then I dig it....cuz I watch that DVD at least once a week.

Carl did an RP1000 Product Demo for Guitar World which was included on the disc that came with the magazine, October 2009 with Neil Young on the cover. It is running into the input and in the effect loop of a Bones amp and GW was super cool to let Carl plug the amp as well

As for Carl's Instructional DVD http://www.carlroa.com/, he plugged directly into the Bones amp then to a 4x12 miced up with delay added later in post production

It is suppose to make it to the GW website but they wait many months before moving it there.

If you want to get more details as to his setup, it's best to email him directly carl at carlroa dot com
Cheers,
Mike

Whilst sitting here in my studio pondering which Fortin Amp to plug into this evening ... I was alerted by the Elf Signal (similiar to the Bat Signal, only it's green), that there was a Rig Talk emergency!

Mr. Fortin is correct about the RP1000 demo being in the October issue of Guitar World. I don't think they have posted the RP1000 video I did as of yet ... for the video I did plug the RP1000 into the main input of the Bones, and also through the effects loop at the same time, which allowed me to run time based effects through the effects loop (like delay and reverb), while running effects like wah, chorus, overdrive out front of the amp. You can also run your favorite stomp boxes in the "stomp loop" of the RP1000 ... which is neat. And of course, you can use the amp modeling built into the unit. It is a fun pedal to play with ...

Mr. Fortin is also correct about the DVD shoot (when is Mr. Fortin not correct?) ... for that, I did run the guitar straight into the Bones and added some delay during mix down.

Last I spoke to the folks at Digitech, it looks like they have a hot-rodded version of the Jam Man coming out for NAMM ... looking forward to checking it out.

I did do a demo for the Digitech Time Bender which will be in the Jan 2010 issue of Guitar World ... although they already posted it on their YouTube channel. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXRRH4HdooE

Thanks again crwnedblasphemy for the support!

No shit we have some fucking hip dudes here huh??? Roa, Andy Wood, Pete Thorn now and then. NOt to mention some of the best Marshall men in the biz and builders

About the dvd for those wondering, Carl has some great tips for practicing his instruction that you would think you would have done it before but you have not.

I really enjoy it and think it offers some insight for everyone plus Carl is rather pleasing to look at   :D

So you can use the RP1000 into the input and effects loop with only 3 cables instead the 4 cable-method? If so, that's cool. I was waiting for one of the companies to FINALLY realize that plenty of players like me, prefer some effects in the loop and not all of them through the input.

He Carl, was the RP1000 pretty transparent?

Hey Dan - yes, you can wire up the RP1000 with an amp with 3 cables. One cable into the input, and two cables for the Effects loop i/o ... then you can assign what effects should run pre or post of the amp's preamp section ... so you can set up effects like delay and reverb to run in the effects loop. And yes, the RP1000 is fairly quiet/transparent considering how many effects are built into the unit. Having said that, the purest tone will always be plugging directly into the amp.

Thanks Carl. I may have to check one out. I did notice with a bunch of pedals plugged into my input of the Cali that i lose a little high end. But i can always turn the treble knob up. :D
