oh fer crissakes....the problem is GAS, and folks going apeshit on $350+ modules with pimp faceplates, which is ridiculous. I have 4 modules that cover all I need. Blackface for super clean, Voxless (JF) for light grit (and Vox chime), Judge for hotrodded marshall, and Grail for Recto/modern. I have zero need for anything else.

Of course it's GAS...As far as ridiculous, I resemble that remark so to each his own...I get where you are coming from and marketing outshines product in some cases...As for it being a problem, that's the only place I disagree...

You gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, no when to sell your shit, no when to hoard... You know that old song... :D

Hey, if you have the disposable income to buy certain mods with certain flavors/tones, go for it. The only problem is when folks like the OP get on the forums blaming MTS for their GAS issues. As others mentioned, removed the MTS amp and GAS will resurrect itself via guitars/pedals/speakers/pups/etc.

G.A.S. cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.

I remember when I was in MTS back a few years ago. Dave Friedman modded a Brahma module....that one with a boost just killed.

I have one of these.. my favourite module. So simple.. just a really good JMP that is a bit hotter. Great with a boost and great definition and clarity. Also like the standard brahma which if correct, is 2-3 parts different than Friedman's modded one. (friedman just adds a few bypass caps) That's what I mean, once you have one really good tone you will rarely play many of the others

Yeah I know it wasnt much of the mod....but it really made it sound so good.
Think after a while Randall started making the newer Brahma modules with the Friedman specs.
I could play that amp with that module in it and be happy. What a great Marshall tone.

My goto MTS Marshall tone is an RSC Plexi made by Dave Friedman for Steve Stevens when he was using MTS...It's not high gain but ohhhh so rock n roll...WIth a boost it's blissful...I don't have any JCM GAS thanks to that module...

I will....It will take a week or so as my schedule is piled high with suck until then....

Sounds like it must be pretty close to the Friedman Brahma so I'm curious too...

I can send you a gut shot of mine to compare with yours as well at some point if you want to know for yourself. :salute:

And so it starts SnakeBite Arriving monday and a JF EV Trilogy later on in the week and possibly an SD Judge & Jury next week too:)

lol on to the Judge and Jury now.. you'll be broke by christmas

Yeah if im broke by Christmas ill have a S*itload of gear christmas i a long ways away! I just get so sad looking at all of my mts amps that at the moment are pretty much empty of module except for 4 in my rm4 and 1 in my rm100 and 2 empty rm50's. Thinking of getting 3 foglifters for the rm100 and rm50's from what i hear it really improves the overall tone of the amplifiers and really opens them up, and they are cheap enough and easy enough to install that its kind of a no brainer. I would get the salvation M.D.A. boards but i hate waiting, hate spending my money outside the u.s. and I dont really see a need to keep the old settings and have to deal with push/pull knobs also its from Rob at Jaded Faith Mods and everything he's ever built has been great except for the QuickMod, that was a wretched piece of S*it...

I think you need to take your foot off the GAS... a few days ago you were saying the quickmod wasn't really for you but in the same sentence you recommended it to someone else... now you say it is crap..yet JF always comes through... but you also don't like to wait for anything (this is apparent). Does everything you think come out on a forum post?? I didn't realize that popping a push/pull knob was such hard work. I personally think Rob made a mistake not making that switchable. What happens when you prefer it the other way for one of your 50+ modules ? I also think you are nuts stock piling RM50's that aren't being used. To each their own I suppose. I wish i had as much disposable income as you have for all of this. By the sounds of it , you live off smokes to be able to afford all of it :D I unfortunately have a mortgage and car payments and lots of other things that suck cashola out of my bank account regularly.. so yeah, I'm jealous. I want a SLO.. not an MTS module that doesn't live up.. a REAL SLO

And there you have it, folks.

:D

Guilty as charged! \:D/ I didn't like the SLO-100 module I tried. Nothing can match the real thing.

I seen some "5150" modules sell for close to $400....
I have seen REAL 5150 WHOLE amps sell for $400....
Again....not knocking the MTS stuff....but the modules will get you in the ball park. But nothing beats the full amp.

Hell, I sold my SLO and kept my Salvado Deluxe. *boom* :D

In my opinion it was "better." Always a subjective term.

You know I'm just kiddin', Drew. And I agree - tone is 100% subjective!

The beauty of the modules is that often you can achieve a great tone at a lower volume. Unlike some of the "real" amps which have to be turned up pretty loud to hit that sweet spot.

Whole amps take up a shit ton of space and are can't be shipped for 15 bucks...But then again, that's a good thing in some ways... :)

I am an avid supporter of MTS as I cannot take the digital preamps yet- yes, I know many sound amazing...MTS is the most all-inclusive system for what I need...A lot of tones easily accessible...

Tone is subjective for sure...My Salvado Deluxe has never moved from my MTS setup...One of very few mods that has that distinction from my mad mod swapping days...I think it's more than ballpark, it's the SLO tone I wanted...I knew from the moment I heard it...

It is very true that MTS is not the real amp...Duh...But it doesn't mean there isn't a possibility that some of us may actually prefer the style of MTS anyway...It's not always a second place system...My Friedman RSC Plexi sounds better than any JCM800 I've ever a/b'd it with- even a couple of the Marshall owners agreed...

Having said that, it's a money pit if you allow it to become one...Most of us do...So I get why people cut and run...
