I have a couple of Rm100 heads and a whole wack of modules. I'd say I have about $4000 invested in it all...Some were bought new and some used. I think that's reasonable considering the variety of tones I have.

Yeah JD.. I dont have quite as much invested but im probably gonna hit and eventually go over $4000 I just picked up the most expensive Jaded Faith mod ive ever seen advertised in the JF Snakebite but it absolutely destroys my UltraLead which sold about an hour after i listed it and im defiantly feeling good about the change in my new high gain mod, Something ive always wondered about is why Salvation mods modules in the used market sell for so much. I mean they are a little bit more expensive for the actual modification and then theres the shipping to and from Europe but people put prices on them that are absolutely crazy, I have seen quite a few that are over $400 for a used module which is absolutely crazy for a module that is no better than a JF module I have seen some thing in Salvation mods that look like they are a bit shoddy on the build quality. It must be people adding in cash for their pain and suffering through their 4 month wait for their module or thinking that more switches demands higher prices even though most of the switches actually detract from the overall tone of the module (On my old Angel B there were 4 switches and the module sounded its best with all of them off). There are a few salvation mods that I really wanna try but I would rather keep my cash in the U.S.A. and deal with the best amp technician and best guy as far as customer support and as far as helping me and many others with MtS and Non Mts amp help anytime we need it.
I will continue to support Rob and his every expanding Module catalog probably till I end my MTS career, there is actually a reasonably priced Salvado Deluxe in the MTS classifieds that is running for $360 which is a very good price for a salvation module!

That's great you love your JF but taking cheap shots at the competition is weak, especially when many of us have had contradictory experiences. Heads up, recent increaeses -including the one you just bought- mean there is no longer a significant price savings between the modders.

Also curious if your Angel was bought direct or used. If used, there is a real chance it was reverse engineered and/or purposely or accidentally screwed up. There have been these issues with used pieces

Im not saying that the angel b was bad at all in fact it rules the roost for about 8 months and I loved it, Amazing high gainer and i cannot say anything negative about that module as it was truly a beast for high gain. It just seems that the tone shaping switches were put in as an afterthought and I much preferred the module without the switches which i have heard from quite a few angel owners. As far as favoring Jaded Faith Mods over Salvation mods I just plain like Robs work more he has some special juju that makes his mods rock and you can get them within a month usually and he is the best customer service guy for any type of amp issue on any kind of amp and doesnt have a problem taking a few minutes out of his day to help out a customer.

So you know for a fact this most expensive Snakebite module kills your UltraLead. Is this opinion from others or have you actually received it yet. Come on dude you know the only way to determine such things is to try it for yourself. You can't just rely on the word of well respected internet posters lol. From your long posts here it seems you put too much stock in others opinion without having even tried some of these things yourself imho.

I received it yesterday and have put in close to 10 hours on ti since bud...

Thats great and I'm not trying to attack you or put you down it justs seems from alot of your posts from page 1 of this thread that you buy into alot of the hype on the forums (easy to do I've been guilty many times)
btw, I'm the guy that sold you that Rm4 on the installent plan last fall.

I just unloaded the last of my mts yesterday
My Recto & PV just delivers thump & power that I couldn't get with mts
Now that can be adjusted with eq & studio tricks
However, there is an attack & immediacy that I noticed in my Friedman ampeg that did it for me. A good spot to test is hi gain 8th fret heavy palm mute syncopated riffage a la Battery style. The notes on non-mts seem much "closer".
I never tried the updated boards, so YMMV
I'd be curious to hear zep's thoughts on this in his TSL vs mts

I agree with this big time.. in the beginning I thought Salvation prices were ridiculous as was their marketing.. then slowly over time I saw JF's prices rise considerably as well as him seemingly mirroring every mod that came out of Salvation with one of his own that was very similar. The PR game also came into full effect. Bottom line, both guys make modules that are over priced. Nothing should be over 325$ in the modular world. Furthermore, everyone has a different ear. Plenty of salvation mods kicking around without the worry of "customer service". Some JF mods are not for everyone.. same goes for Salvation. Both guys do extensive reworking of modules and have the expertise to do so. That should be respected regardless of what one thinks of their modules.

Don't have one of the new boards yet but I agree with this... I like my own module and my friedman brahma but my JCM800 PTP and real JCM800 still beat my Lynchbox. I can get great tones out of my lynch box but just saying that bit extra is in the JCM800. I think a lot has to do with the modules separate volume control. I now have to have them on 2 o clock to get the oomph I want and openess. Also helps with the fizz.

Hey Zep, I might do another one of my "Brownstone" mods complete with mid shift, additional gain stage, preamp revoice. It will have a bitchin faceplate.. can i interest you in one?? I mean let's see, it is so unique and a marshall killer so I can ask atleast 685$ I figure!  I think you pm'd me once about the clips I had done of it. I hate to say it but for crunch and lead, it easily beat the JF SLO I had. It is the best hot rodded Marshall module I have played and it is my own :) Consider it HYPED.

Hey Kapo

you post a thread having a hard time wiring a simple
pickup

and you actually put a soldering iron to double-sided pcb

 :scared: :loco:

another reason I got out of MTS - too many fubared Module
PCB's sold and resold

Fuzzboat, my pickup was faulty. Got a replacement and put it in and easy breezy. I was fiddling for months with that damn thing. But thanks for the vote of confidence! lol ;) For your info yes I have modded those MTS boards and they are a bitch!! But hey, have you ever looked inside a vintage amp? Have you seen some of the jobs they do on PTP boards? I'd also like to add that I completely gutted an old Laney and replaced it with a PTP and new transformer and it is flawless with low noise. (and have built 3 amps) So next time you want to throw rocks, make sure you have your facts straight..... I also think you fail to see the humour and sarcasm in my post.. but if you want to lump me in there with people who f-ck PCB's and resell them, go ahead.

PS- I thought the reason you got out of MTS was because you had already reverse engineered everyone's work and were ready to release the mother of all cloned modules?? :scared:

Hell, I sold my SLO and kept my Salvado Deluxe. *boom* :D

In my opinion it was "better." Always a subjective term.

You know I'm just kiddin', Drew. And I agree - tone is 100% subjective!

Rob, I know. I found the MTS version of the SLO "better" for me. Mainly because it is not as articulate as the actual SLO, but still maintains 95%+ of the tone. This is a good thing for a sloppy player. :D

I have only tried the JF SLO module the SL-OD100 and like it ok kept it around for a 4 or 5 months and played it here and there but never really melded with it so it went out the door, I have heard great things about the Salvation SLO module the Salvado Deluxe though.

Finally Sold my PlexiTweed and Im trading a fellow MTS forum member my JF Erect for an EV Trilogy which should be an interesting time as the Tilogy has a reputation of being a bit tough to dial in. It has lots of switches and extra knobs that do all kinds of crazy things to your tone, But I welcome the challenge ..

Well things are looking good today, Got 2 modules and one of em is an unheard of 95 donor and ive got a JF EV trilogy.. and hopefully the MTS forum comes back up soon. As ive got another stock module, a plexi that i am going to have rob put they works for his ala carte.. and the module that I already paid for is gong to become a Vybe deluxe or maybe a silverado if i can afford.

In the 6 years I was on that forum, it was never down for more than a few hours. Hope it comes back
