How many Randall MTS users are on here. about 2 years ago I was practicing and gigging with a 75 watt line 6 spider 4 SS modeling amp and thought it was great, about the same time my bandmate was running a randall rm100 with a warhead cab with v30's and a stock plexi, ultra and ultra xl modules. One night at practice the rm100 blew a tube and rather than fix the tube he decided that he loved my line 6 and up and bought a spider 4hd150 head and matching cab with a fbv shortboard and he put the rm100 and his rm50 in a closet and forgot about em.. a couple months later I had recently discovered tube amps after playing a used TSL 100 at my local music store and i inquired about the rm50 and the warhead cab. He wanted to get rid of the stuff and the rm50 was not operating well so I got the warhead cab and the RM50 and 6 modules for $250:) I replaced all the tubes in the rm50 and all the tubes in the modules and it worked great and sounded great with stock modules... About 3 months after that I was helping him inventory all his gear and we happened upon the rm100 in the closet and just out of curiosity i asked him if he wanted to get rid of it and he said definatly so I ended up trading him a low end schecter diamond series c-1 that i diddnt play anymore for the rm100. I took it to my local amp tech and had him do a cleaning (it was way dusty) and had him re-tube the beast and it came right up and has worked flawlessly since! It was the greatest deal ive ever gotten in my musical career! after about a month with the rm100 i stumbled upon the jaded faith web site and was amazed with what Rob was up to I immediately sent out 3 donors to him for a 1959RR custom, a MarkX and an Erect and when they came back I was blown away I Loved the sound of the amps with the stock modules i had but the modded modules are just a giant step above and beyond! I was a little sad when i Learned that the line was discontinued but a short while later i bought an RM4 preamp and sit hear today with 11 modded modules of all types low mid and high gain fenders marshalls engls VHT's! I could never afford any of these amps that Rob and other modders are very faithfully re-creating and I am totally in love with these amps still today every time i plug into one of my mts amps i still feel that joy of when i opened that first box from jaded faith. Lately I have been in a blues mood just after mr MattFig kindly sold me my now favorite module the JF plexiTweed and Im still going hoping to order a JF Vybe Deluxe which is based off an old fender vibrolux and a JF silverado which from what i hear absolutely nails the marshall silver Jubilee... Its an addiction these modules and it looks like its here to stay I am stockpiling donor modules because eventually the supply of non-modded stock modules will dry up but until that day im gonna get as many new tones as possible!

I like MTS but I am not in love with it.. we can go back and forth about whether or not it is faithful to the amp it replicates but for some amps, there is more going on in the power amp and even off the input into the first stage that you just cannot duplicate in a module. I think with the new salvation boards, another great step has been taken to allow these amps to hold their own. My ears hear more clarity , volume, and less fizz. In short, removes the blanket from the tone or the dullness which has long been a complaint from people who fell out of love with their MTS. So really, all that cash you have spent on modules, I would suggest picking up a diff tube head in the 800$ used range and see whether or not MTS still excites you. Some say yes, others say no.

Personally I have only 3 modules now. DF Brahma and Judge and my own Mr. Brownstone. If I had to keep only one, probably the Brahma but my own module is pretty killer as well.

I picked up a RM100 with a Plexi, Clean and XTC modules. It sounded good. Jumping the parallel effects loop and turning the effects knob up between noon and 3pm made it sound much better IMO. I liked the Plexi module the best. I ended up selling all 3 modules and still have the head. Gonna sell that too. I have been using it as a straight power amp with my Randall RD5H and it sounds fantastic. Just too big and I don't need it. I bet some of the modded modules sound great though. I thought about having someone rip all the parts out and making me a dedicated power amp in a smaller chassis, but figured I'd just sell it.

Yeah Im gonna be ordering a P/D board from anthony for my rm100 and rm50 pretty soon here MattFigs videos were great and i think i can actuallly do this install myself and save the probable 100+ dollars id shell out to my amp tech to do it. The salvation boys really knocked it out of the park with this one really opened up the amp, removed the blanket and made the amp sound alot more raw and even gave it a bit more low end response to my ears, exactly what the rm100 was missing. I actually solved a big problem a couple days ago with my RM4 I had been running it through a peavey classic 50/50 power amp and then into the 4 ohm stereo inputs on the warhead cab (i have the rm100 running though the same cab into the 8 ohm inputs) and i just couldnt get my higher gain modules to sound good, they sounded mushy and very loose so for the first time i ran the rm4 into the serial loop return of my rm100 which has 6L6's rather than the EL84's of the peavey and its like a whole new world for those high gain modules. My JF UltraLead and Ev Trilogy both were about to be traded away and now the ultralead has replaced my Angel B as my main high gain rtyhm sound but i am still gonna get rid of the trilogy, I just cant find a sound with it that im really happy with and its so friggin complicated with all those switches and dials and the way they interact with each other I can get some good tones but only out of the 5150 III tone stack. Ive gotta get some cash together to get a Vybe Deluxe and satisfy my SRV tone thirst and after hearing the words of the guy who commissioned the silverado saying that it was pretty much an exact clone of his Silver Jubilee's tone in every way I figure I must have one to do those post AFD G&R Slash tones and from the short 15 second clips that rob posted it sounds like no other marshall ive ever heard... I sent Rob an email asking him if he could do an AFD100 module and I guess due to the jubilee part of it being ridiculously complex its not something he could do but I may still see if i can push him into doing an AFD s.i.r. #39 marshall mod to cover that amazing tone.(just bought slashes biography today too) Anyways good to hear your happy with just a few modules Kapo i myself am gonna have to liquidate probably 3 or 4 others of mine at some point once i find out what direction i want to go musicially.. sorry for writing a novel here:)

Yeah Bubba I just jumpered the paralell loops on my rm100 and my rm4 today too... got a huge volume and tightness gain

After years of searching for a versatile tube amp, the MTS moders cured my amp gas.

Yeah I hear ya... MTS cursed my gas for a while but these damn modders keep coming out with killer new modules so often that for quite a while my gas has been re-ignited and has come back worse than ever.... having said that I think that the Salvation P/D boards may give me temporary relief as the sound of my existing mods will change quite dramatically with those once installed.

Just in case anyones interested and since i dont have enough posts to put a message on the classifieds ive got a peavey classic 50/50 in great condition. Has 8 EL84's 2 12ax7's and 2 12au7's. Sounds great with my rm4 for most low and mid gain mts modules.. I had a pod xt pro running through it and it sounded great really warmed up the amp model tones. Im interested in a peavey classic 60/60 power amp.

You won't need diode clipping for the AFD100 mod. JF already has the Brahma #39 which is his take on that circuit so it is essentially done for you. The AFD100 has both the 36/39 mod (extra tube) and #34 mods which was just a modded jcm800. I use a few elements of that mod in my JCM800 to give it a bit more crunch and gain and love it. My modded Brahma I think is very close to the AFD sound when i play it with Alnico II's. It just cuts.

MTS is not a cure to gas.....it is awesome but I'm going to pick up a Salvation mod Density and Presence control.....fun never ends! \m/

I might pick up one of the new boards myself. Thing is, I don't find my amp fizzy or blanketed. The clips I have heard have me thinking that I prefer the stock setting better.

Can't really go wrong for the price of the mod though.
