I'm not a fan of the shape of the guitar or headstock but I just played a early 90's one and it felt great. Who makes a neck with the same specs? What are the specs? Are Charvels similar? I guess I'm looking for a strat headstock that feels like the Axis.

I dunno man but they are really thin width wise. Only guitar I ever played that felt similar neck wise was a '72 Flying Vee. I have small hands and they both felt way small at the nut for me. Hard to do Cowboy chords for me too! Maybe I have fat fingers.

I have one, it took a little getting used to the width

some gibson sg standards made 1968-1972 that I have owned have had very similar shape and width to ernie ball/musicman evh and axis that I have owned
the nut width on the sg can be slightly over 41mm and have the same shape as the evh/axis and those are the ones I like but it is best to check the size before buying to be certain as some sg can be 42 mm at nut and some are 43mm ,but the ones that are same as the musicman are out there if you look for them

I love SG necks too I have a 65 SG Custon and a 63 SG Jr. I have small fingers

I guess they are assemetrical where the lower string half of neck is fuller than the higher side so it fits in your small hands better

If it helps, I have pretty darn big hands and the the Axis and Silhouettes fit me very well. The JP is a little small for me, though.

I got tired of body of the Axis as well, love the necks but can't deal with the body. Checkout either some Silhouette's or the Steve Lukather models.

Very nice, those are really immpressive years to own for an sg
I have never owned a junior but I have had a load of standards over the years , what color is the custom sg
if you are into Gibson sg have you ever heard the schaffer vega diversity or the schaffer vega diversity replica

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the difference between the EVHMM and the Axis MM were pickup selector location and neck profile?

Nah, same neck.

Too narrow for me - 41.28mm at the nut feels like a ukulele.

The Axis neck is unique. It's an assymetrical profile. The nut is too small for me. I prefer the Peavey Wolfgang neck. Similar assymetrical profile with a 1.625" nut. The taper is slightly wider up to the 12th fret too.
I had Warmoth make me a wolfgang neck for my partscaster. Only difference was a 1 11/16" nut. I love it!!! Fits the hand perfectly but not too chunky on the treble side.

I honestly dont know why all necks arent assymetrical...

65 SG Custom is white. Shaffer wireless system? I heard of it and its part of Angus sound as adds a little something?

Good to know warmoth can duplicate an axis neck with a different headstock

yes thats the one , the original is wireless but there a replica that can used without wireless just for the boost and compression it produces

I'm going to speak in general terms since I don't know exact specs. I like the thickness of Axis necks (distance from fretboard to back of neck. It's much thicker in this respect than say the ibanez wizard profile. Where I have a hard time is getting used to is the narrow fretboard if the Axis (distance from low E to high E) causing the strings to be really close together. I have found that my Gibson LP Classic with the slim 60's neck also has similar feel in terms of string spacing.
