I used to have that very board in the late 90’s. Had it setup in a spare bedroom and would record friend’s demos in my townhome in San Diego. Had to use electronic drums for the neighbors and lots of recordings of 100 watt heads with the Powerbrake set to one click above load..lol No matter what anybody says the guitars always turned out just fine that way.
Was slinging a couple of ADAT’s together around then.
I kind of miss my 1/2” 8 and 16 track machines though. Digital is obviously super convenient but the sound of Ampex 456 or 499 getting hit with healthy levels was magic for rock music.

My son had a Ramsa console like that. His supposedly had Neve clone preamps. It was decent but the routing options were werid. He got rid of it and bought a sound craft series 5 live board that has 1073 preamp clones. Wish he hadn't cause the thing is 10 feet long.i am, i use it for my drums mostly with a little bit of eq. besides it looking cool though im not really sure what the point is for home use, it takes up a ton of space, i cant play and tweak my drums at the same time, and im not sure it really sounds any better than the preamps in my interface. if i was recording bands and could eq and level while someone else is playing it may be different, but i dont really care about using analog gear and twisting knobs isnt thrilling at all to me, and im not really looking to go away from my templates and instant recall should i want to change something, which is really the biggest thing for me

I had the poor-man's version of that brother:
Mackie CR-1604 desk (16-channel).
1 x ADAT.
Used a JL Cooper DataSync to sync the ADAT to my ATARI, sacrificing 1 MIDI channel. So basically a MIDI-driven band with geetar, bass and vox from the ADAT over-the-top.
Worked a treat.

The 1604 was the first mixer I ever bought for myself. Thing was so dependable. That and an Otari 1/2” 8 track was my first home recording combo. This was while I was going to school for Music production. I didn’t even get a 4 track cassette machine until long after having those.

I went with the Fostex D Series Recorders. They were the evolution of the ADAT with IDE Hard Drives in them. I started with an 8-track and then got a 16. I then synced them for 24-tracks. Then they came out with a 24-track in the same size as the others.. LOL
They were always rock solid and fast with no tapes to mess with.
Still have them!
I remember when a CD-R Recorder was $1000 bux! I sold it in the late 2000's for like $250 LOL
I also bought and still have an Alesis Masterlink Recorder.

Had that mixer too. I got it off eBay in a road case and it was mint! I had to sell when times were tough. It was portable!
I forgot about the 4-track. I still have it but I wore that thing out..
