I have some questions about recording DI

I have the same question for you lol. If I didn’t want to use a reamp box and additional amps, can I use amp sims in the DAW once I have the DI track? I don’t want to argue about hardware vs. software; I just want to understand the concept.

Thanks as always, guys. Appreciate it.
Yes. You can use amp sims in the box using the DI track. That's how that is done. If you wanted to just use IRs, you can use the line out or recording out on an amp the same way too, but that's another mess. Usually I only mic real amps, and I haven't messed with amp sims and IRs much, but I always take a DI track. It can be useful for editing too, even if you don't use it.

Yeah, that's what I've read as well. You might not use the DI track in the recording, but it can be useful to see the wave pattern and for other shit. Thanks for your help.

Plus, if you ever do session work, it's usually required so that the engineer or producer has flexibility with the tone. It's a good habit to get into.

The most important part about that flexibility, is that it's a great safety net.

Let's say the vocals end up sitting in a range that takes all the high midrange bite out of a tone, and when they're tracked the guitar sounds anemic? Now you can just reamp the DI and re-track the guitars (with an amp) or just slap a plug in on it.
