I don't think I'm completely satisfied with my Boss 7 band EQ for my 5150 II and I've herd great things about the MXR 10 band EQ.

What do you think? also. Is it worth investing in a KFK 10 band? What's the difference?

I'm in the same boat, currently using a Boss GE-7 and ready to change to something better. I'm considering building a rack, and might get an EQ there, but the MXR 10-band is another option if I decide to keep EQ it on the pedalboard. I've only had experience testing in store, but the MXR seems to be much better than the Boss GE-7, and you wouldn't be disappointed. There's no difference between the basic 10-band and the KFK version, besides the tribal decoration.

yay on the 10 band.

there is a difference between the regular 10 band and the KFK. the KFK has two outputs.
I have both the boss and the mxr and the boss has been gathering dust now for many months

Oops, excuse me then.

I spent around 100 dollars on a Boss GE-7 and Livewire ABY switch, when I could've went for a MXR KFK 10-band to give me more control and space on the pedalboard. That's what I get for not researching the KFK version.

Oh.. there's a thought I forgot about actually....

I'm thinking about investing in a power conditioner and I also thought about a rack EQ, as they pop up on Gumtree (UK equivilent of Craigslist) all the timereally really cheap. Cheaper than a 10 band.

I'd lose the option of a solo boost though, I don't think I'd be using the MXR for that anyway.

I say nay , I hate eq's with any amp, makes them seem digitized and you end up cutting the frequencys that make you sound cut through.

I boost the upper mids on my GE-7 and cut the mids slightly on my amp when I'm using it to colour tone.

Um, Don't cut those freqs ?

good pedal id have one if my warhead dident have one already

The GE-7 is noisey, and adds hiss. The MXR is much quieter - I use one with my 6505+, and sold the Boss..

Yes, in the loop. Helps if the amp doesn't have loop level controls. Also helps make up mids and tighten lows.

i have the kfk version but i only use it for recording. It sounds better in the band mix, but its soo much work to set up :o

Make sure if you get the MXR 10 band (doesn't matter which version) that you use the included power supply and not a standard 9v power supply or pedal supply unit. The EQ actually runs on 18v power and if you run it at 9v you will get less headroom and a little bit of fizzy distortion. I am sure that people sometimes confuse this with the pedal sounding bad, but they just aren't powering it right

This is very true. I left my Dunlop adapter at home once and had to use a 9 volt adapter and it sounded very harsh compared to the Dunlop 18 volt adapter that came with it.
