I found the KOT to be highly overrated. It may have been a Bluesbreaker copy, but the bottom dropped right out when I turned it on.
The KingTone Duellist on the other hand has a killer Bluesbreaker in it as well as a TS. Both w/ 3-way switches for tone options.

Better than the BOSS HM-2 Dookie of Tone
Hah I use mine maybe less than 1/500 times, but when I can it's hideous in the most glorious way. I love it, especially through the 1972 Superlead

That kind of tone is one that I’m chasing. Looking for a good OD type pedal to get that in between clean and crunch, like a crunchy sparkly kind of sound using a pedal in front of a high gain amp’s “clean” channel. If this is a tone that you use and you didn’t like the POT or KOT, what are you using?
It would be good for that. I actually have a 2 in 1 Klon/POT pedal, and use the POT side for that sometimes.
Into a clean fender, I use a few different fuzz pedals that clean up into a crispy overdrive type sound.
I prefer to get my dirt tones from amps, and have a Vox AC15 for that chimey, barely breaking sound.

You can’t beat an AC15 for that kind of tone. For sure. I love that kind of tone. I think I could could cover any tone I wanted with three amps: Marshall Super Lead, Tweed Deluxe, and an AC15 or 30.

You ever try a Pigtronix Class A Boost? To me it nails that type of sound and they can be found cheap. Great way to "Voxify" pretty much anything

Couldn't agree more. Marshall Vox and Fender - all set. Maybe add a Mesa for the modern high gain thing.

I think a good Marshall Super Lead can do the modern high gain thing with a couple of (good) boosts or OD pedals. It’s always good to have as many amps as possible, though. (I mean, we’re ALL amp heads around here, right? Lol)

I haven’t tried the Pigtronix Class A. It’s an interesting and cool pedal though. I definitely need to try one. Right now, I’ve got a Buxxom Boost and a Nobels ODR-1 in front. I like both a lot b/c both goose the front in a different way and are different enough yet equally awesome to be worth keeping in the pedal board. I don’t use both at the same time, just one or the other. The thing I like the most about the Buxxom is the ability to trim the low end. That’s the key to cleaning up gain.
