Has anyone used a mxr phase 90 in a loop? Just curious to see if people think myself that it sounds better in front.
I was trying different pedals tonight through a FX loop on a clean amp for an issues wit a FX Loop. and the phase 90 in the loop of it sounded terrible, had nasty breakup throughout the swell. Sounded fine in front.

I always put phasers, flangers, boost/gain pedals, whammy effects and a few others out front. I prefer delay, chorus, reverb, pitch and tremolo in the loop. I go both ways on EQs as it depends on what I'm looking for.

I remember using it in the loop, and it caused some major volume loss. I had to fix it by using a MXR/cae booster/line driver with it. Up front there were no issues. It never hurts to try, but for me up front was the best choice without a doubt.

Phase sounds terrible in the loop. Not opinion, fact. :D

I prefer the phase 90 in front of the amp. The effect is a lot more subtle there.

might be my phase 90, but I hear a bump noise with the phase change in the loop and it sounds like ass. Guess you can try it and see for yourself.

For a long time I ran my Phase 90 in the loop. Not surprisingly, I didn't us it much. I now run it right after the wah, but before the dirt pedals in front of the amp. I tried it after the dirt pedals as well, but liked it best where it is now.
