Spoke to Dave last night and my 71' Plexi is on it's way to me! Nine long months but here she comes.

Invoice was funky so I called Dave and basically the amp was a
Nightmare internally from previous work/hack-jobs.

I had the following put into it:
KS/Sat/Loop/Depth/VH/Variac/1-2 Power

Saturday should be the day. Pics and clips to come.

Bought a brand new IM2 for 30 (B&H Audio was blowing them out)
In anticipation of this. Also got a free iPhone today from a girl who works at my apartment complex.

Kick ass week for sure.

It's going to be so perfect. Dave's mods are perfect for what I want in a amp.
FedEx said it won't be here till Tuesday now. Fuck.

Congrats! Hope my 75 will soon be on its way back to me so keep fingers crossed!!

How does that IM2 work? Any reviews or clips?

Plugs right into any iPhone 3/3GS/4/4s and has a limiter/stereo mics. Also has a nice headphone insert and level control for on the fly monitoring.

No clips until I get my amp. Check out Mark Day's I Bought a Friedman clip as he used a IM2. I think the amp was recorded going full tilt as well.

I am going to have to pick up one of the IM2s when I come back from Belgium. Wait, I first need to get an iPhone!!!      Hell maybe I will just buy the IM2 and use my wife or kids iPhone, but do I really want to broadcast to others my suck ass playing? Probably not!!!

Rob,

B&H Audio is blowing them out for $30 flat/ground shipping. I paid $35 for expedited shipping and got it two days later.

I bought it knowing I was getting a iPhone in April and figured I'd jump on it now to save cash. I was speaking to a girl who works at my apartment complex and we brought up iPhone's and she offered to give me her old iPhone 4 for free. Even got a sweet Otter Box case with it as well for nothing and a charger.

Hope you get your CCV soon as well once you're back from Belgium!

what is the VH mod and you had a variac installed?

The VH switch is a voicing switch that shifts the lows and highs of the amp.

Dave e-mailed me today to tell me that the Variac couldn't be installed because my transformer didn't have the necessary tap for the mod. Not a huge deal as external variacs are not that expensive.

Haha i thought it stood for Van Halen? You have me thinking though, I've sent my 2203 over to Dave for the kitchen sink; man I wonder if the variac would be an option for the 2203 (reissue). I had the Mark V and loved the variac switch on that

It does stand for Van Halen. As far as getting a 'brown sound' I don't know if it'll happen but guys who have it say they love it. I wish I could've had the variac though.

Maybe I'll get a portable one somewhere down the line.

Congrats on getting your amp back and thanks for the heads up on the iM2. Looks like something I could use for my iphone.

Thanks man!

I tried it briefly singing and it cuts like no tomorrow. The auto compression is really nice as well.

It does stand for van halen as he used to use a variac to brown his tone. In order to have the vh switch on these mods I believe he has to install a different power transformer with both taps for different voltage , much like the metro plexi's by George. I have a ho attenuator that has a built in variac plug at 400v and I dig how it makes my plexi sound.

I was able to do the VH switch for mine but the Variac is a different switch altogether. Dave said my transformer didn't have the correct tap as it was a early 70's replacement. I can always buy an external Variac down the line or if my PT blows, kill two birds with one stone.
