After about a year of 'official' Boss pedal collecting, I got my holy grail. A VERY early Boss SP-1 Spectrum. Don't let the black screw fool you. This has a low serial # and the clear switch on the inside.

I don't care about condition at all really, so this one has some charm. I tried it out today, and it's actually a pretty awesome pedal. This will be my next Boss pedal to review, so stay tuned!

And for anyone who is keeping count, I have less than 20 pedals left to have a complete Boss pedal collection.

Wow, I remember when you said you were going to start...Seems like less than a year ago?

Nice work!

Any chance for a clip for those of us who have never heard of this pedal?

What effect is it exactly? Cool :)

It's like a mix between a 1 band parametric EQ, and a fixed wah. It's actually a super cool pedal. You can get cocked wah sounds, or super funky stratty sounds out of humbuckers.

Thanks man! Yep, it has been around 10 months since I started with the videos. It's amazing how fast I've acquired these things. It was easy at first, but now it's tougher to get good deals. Fortunately, I've knocked out all of the hard to find ones, for the most part.

Cool endeavor. What do you estimate it has cost you?

I'm not sure. I could estimate it if I sat down and did some tallying. I was very smart about finding deals and probably paid around $40 on average for most. The VB-2, SG-1, and SP-1 cost me $300 each, so that's almost 1k for those 3 alone. Aside from those, I paid less than eBay for all but a few.

I respect your ambition here and have nothing but love for the endeavor.

That being said,

I married a girl when I was 23 (lasted 18 months) and she had a dad who collected shit.

HIS OBSESSION was lunch boxes. You know, the ones that have Scooby Doo or KISS on them.

had 100's of them.

All this to say, I get it.

Do what makes you happy, Brother!

Haha, that's cool! I'm actually not a collector of much anymore (believe it or not). Once I get them all, I'll probably sell the one's I won't use and keep maybe 30 or so. Probably less. I just think that it will be cool to have a complete collection for a while. And, doing review videos on each one will hopefully be a nice reference point for folks.

Again. God Speed in your endeavor.

I wish you well, friend.

ps.

You documenting the journey is a service for those of us who dont. So keep on keeping on!

Holy crap. They range from $450 to $700 on reverb!!!
