First let me say that an SLO + Bogner 4x12 + Gibson R8 + Ibanez TS reissue (the square on/off switch one) is just breath taking...

The depth mod option is amazing too... And it was pretty cool unwrapping a fresh SLO from the factory

Anyway...I have an intellifex and a flashback X4 pedal but i was really wanting to get a gmajor 2 as I heard it was a good call for the SLO?

Any thoughts or recommendations? I want to avoid the tone suck factor... I googled around a few places and found a bit of conflicting opinions on this and I don't want to do an FX loop mod that alot of people seem to talk about

I use just delay chorus and re verb for the most part and want to keep things simple

I also hear that certain pedals and a suhr mini mix II was a good call for the SLO's touchy FX loop...

Any info or ideas from people who have tried a lot of different FX with an SLO would be appreciated!

G.

Sorry for the offtopic, but can you tell me please what pre-amp tubes have you in every V position specifically ?
Just curious what put Soldano in their amps in 2014....
Thanks!

Congradulations.

Most awesome Lead Guitar tone ever!

I have had my SLO for 6 months now.
I Have been fighting the effects loop issue every step of the way.

The problem is not the fact that the loop only works well only with Line level gear, the issue is where the loop is located in the design of the amp. (pre tone stack/master)

Running a clean tone, is not a problem with effects in the loop, but under gain, the delays/reverbs are choked off similar to running them in front of the amp due to where the loop is positioned.
You can not acheive a completly wet effects sound with Gain

I love this amp more than anything but am so disapointed in the unusable loop.

I bought a BadCat Unleash to help remedy this, but it just changed the tone/feel of the amp too much.

I think I am now going to have a Metro Loop installed to get what I need out of this amp.

But even running live with no effects, the amp still kills
I am using the normal channel boosted with a Carl Martin Plexitone for Rythmn, then for Leads and solo volume boost, going to the Overdrive channel.

Your Intellifex and Flashback X4 should work fine in the SLO Loop. The G Major 2 is a good choice also. The loop is designed for line level/rack style gear but there are pedals that will work fine also. I know the Strymon pedals work, as well as the Eventide pedals. MXR Carbon Copy works fine.

Check out the Soldano forum. There a whole lots of discussion about the effects loop and what works well or doesn't. http://soldano.conforums.com/

I just spent some time with my intellifex in the loop and the Flashback X4 sound way better me thinks...

I have an xpression to tired and I think the rack gear stuff makes the gian a little undefined compared to just running the Flashback X4

The shur mini mix II seems to be pretty cool has anyone tried this??? It is worth blowing @$250 on???

The amp is a 2013 model as far as know.

The dealer had it a few months before I bought it.

You're probably already aware, but set your Intellifex pre-Hush whenever possible, it does make a difference.

Doesn't metter I think....
Last SLO I've seen was from 1996, tubes changed a lot since

My 2 cents, dont mess with the loop, its fine just rum quality pedals through it and you'll be fine. TC are great T Rex Replica and Strymon work awesome!! Big congrats!!

Been awhile since I owned a SLO.
But after listening to those who know the issues of where the loops is in the circuit
and the TONE of the amp is dependent on where Mike placed it,I'd do research before you think about a Metro Loop.

....just sayin.

Slave/Direct out ---> Effects ---> power amp ----> Cab W/D or W/D/W problem solved

And don't bitch about the cost of that route,,, if you spent 2700 or more for a SLO

THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol... Even my deep discount abilities I paid alot more that 2700 bux for a brand new SLO with depth mod...

I never tried the slave out on the SLO before and all I can say is the "Wet/Hair-Pie" Rig is the way to go!!!

So after reading your suggestion I just used the FX return in of my 98 Triple Rec to try it out
and I just spent the last hour snapping on how good it sounds compared to using the loop with my Xpression rack processor.

I can never go back to the loop on the SLO evar now.

I have the triple rec on a vht cab and the SLO on a Bogner Uber Kab with my 2011 R8 and and over drive and I'm stoked

I might need to pick up a VHT 2/50/2 or something to use for my wet amp down the road...

Oops

Sorry about the advice   I think I am going to go with a Mesa 2:100 or similar Mesa amp
I had a 2/90/2 and wasn't all that impressed, didn't live up to the praise for me. If you like it in your trip rec then mesa might be good. :dunno: Mesa 2:100 can take either 6l6 or EL34 and bias with the flip of a switch  Just don't buy the one I am watching

Yeah, wet/dry is the way to go. Even a cheap power amp and cab is good enough (better than the loop).

My 98 triple is loaded with JJ KT77's and the amp just rips...

I'm a VHT fanatic and the 2/50/2 is the best sounding power amp they make IMO... I liked it way more than the 2/90/2
