Slave/Direct out ---> Effects ---> power amp ----> Cab W/D or W/D/W problem solved

And don't bitch about the cost of that route,,, if you spent 2700 or more for a SLO

THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol... Even my deep discount abilities I paid alot more that 2700 bux for a brand new SLO with depth mod...

I never tried the slave out on the SLO before and all I can say is the "Wet/HairPie" Rig is the way to go!!!

So after reading your suggestion I just used the FX return in of my 98 Triple Rec to try it out
and I just spent the last hour snapping on how good it sounds compared to using the loop with my Xpression rack processor.

I can never go back to the loop on the SLO evar now.

I have the triple rec on a vht cab and the SLO on a Bogner Uber Kab with my 2011 R8 and and over drive and I'm stoked

I might need to pick up a VHT 2/50/2 or something to use for my wet amp down the road...

Oops

Sorry about the advice   I think I am going to go with a Mesa 2:100 or similar Mesa amp
I had a 2/90/2 and wasn't all that impressed, didn't live up to the praise for me. If you like it in your trip rec then mesa might be good. :dunno: Mesa 2:100 can take either 6l6 or EL34 and bias with the flip of a switch  Just don't buy the one I am watching

I'm a VHT fanatic and the 2/50/2 is the best sounding power amp they make IMO... I liked it way more than the 2/90/2
That is why there is more than one choice

I've always had a "love/hate" thing with the SLO (I've owned probably ten of them). Bottom line is, it is what it is, and it's a killer amp that is legendary....

The TC Flashback works and sounds great in the SLO's loop. I think the Intellifex was used in designing the SLO loop. It works great but too processed sounding to my ears.

To processed ...... That would be the 80's tone   :scared:

I love the tone of my SLO. I use a Boss DD-3 in the loop. It's a little grainy on the OD channel, but I only use it from time to time. The tone is so good though, it doesn't bother me at all.

Had friends into classic/acid rock complain that what I was listening to was over processed guitar. Amazing how things like that get ya thinking. I was raised on classic/acid rock and 80's and like most of it

You have to use line level +4 effects in the SLO loop. Plenty of delay/ reverb pedals around these days that are line level.

Sorry for the offtopic, but can you tell me please what pre-amp tubes have you in every V position specifically ?
Just curious what put Soldano in their amps in 2014....
Thanks!

The amp is a 2013 model as far as know.

The dealer had it a few months before I bought it.

Well, have you got a look at your pre tubes?

I have a '98 SLO and conquer that W/D/W is a great option. In my rack I am using a Soldano X88r, TC G Force, TC 1210 powered by a VHT 2/50/2.

For the loop I've tried a EL CAP and it wasn't for me, a TC Flashback but liked it better in the loop of my Tremaverb and then tried a black-face Intellifex I had laying around and when not going going W/D/W I am using it in the loop. Yes, it is more processed sounding but that tone has its place and it also is an option when using a multi-amp setup.

My favorite combo is using a Bogner 100b wet with the SLO dry.

Experiment, have fun during the process and play your ass off!!! Yeeeeeiiiiiiii

Wasn't there a mod out there to make the loop pedal friendly? I had a love/hate relationship with the SLO although I do miss the lead tone from time to time.
