Hello,

My Egnater Renegade head recently stopped working. It had been making a buzzing/electric razor type noise (which i think i fan-related) whenever i turned it on. The other day I turned it on... the noise was actually a lot quieter than usual and then after about 5 minutes of playing with the amp on.... the light just shut off and the amp went dead....i checked to if it was the outlet/fuse box... but that wasn't it.... i used different power cable and still ...no go....it just won't come back on... any ideas of what i can do here... or what the problem is? thanks

Is it under warranty? If so call CS. If not, call them or e-mail them anyway. Maybe they have advice.

Did you check the fuses and tubes? Might be worth a try.

If all else fails, maybe a repair shop is in order.

It does sound like something may have failed inside. You can check the main fuse located in the AC inlet module. If it is blown, no doubt something caused it. Possibly a power tube. If the main fuse is blown, do this.
Power off.
Replace the fuse.
Remove the four power tubes.
Power on. If the fuse blows....stop. It needs to be repaired.
If the fuse does not blow and the lighs come on, switch to the PLAY position.
If the fuse still does not blow, standby and power off. Put the 6L6 tubes back into their original sockets.
Power on.
1) Fuse does not blow. Switch to play. Does the amp make normal sound?
2) Fuse does blow. Remove the 6L6 tubes.
Same procedure as above but with the EL34 tubes instead of 6L6.

If the tube testing above fails, this may require a trip to the repair shop. Contact josh@egnateramps.com.
