Code001,

thanks for the tips! The guitar is definitely JUST on the edge of being slightly neck heavy, I'll look into getting hipshots or sperzels, and will also re-insert the pickguard screws at an angle to flatten it up. As for the neck gap, currently I'm having no problems with how it's playing and setup so I'll leave it for now but maybe pick up some brass sheets for future.

Looks pretty sweet man, nice save. I took the easy way out and bought mine already painted. Tele's are such a blast to play.

Cheers ibenhad! Couldn't agree more, Teles are definitely a blast to play!

I like the way it came out very much. I use Watco and Tung oil on my builds too. I haven't built a 7/8th yet, but you've got me thinking. Maybe a mahogany body and rosewood neck or?

loni,
I'm a big fan of maple fretboards, aside from all the other unique features of the 7/8th tele, one of the I decided to build one was simply cause there are too many rosewood fretboard guitars out there imo.

nothing wrong with watco and/or tung oil. I ended up with some aussie branded danish oil in the end however, as they don't have watco stuff here, which worked better for me anyhow as it's 100% natural danish oil (whatever that means) it smells nice! Reminds me of a tasty cocktail I have quite often!

also as I've been advised, try to get a showcase body, not only are they generally cheaper, but that way you'll know the weight, cause you can't choose the weight when you have one built to order.

Actually enjoyed following this from near disaster to success! (as far as looks are concerned) I absolutely love the natural looking finish... sorry it has a few quirks... every guitar does though I suppose, aside from the neck screw I would stress about everything else too much, guitar looks killer... play the shit out of it!

thanks for the comments! I've actually gotten a new neck screw and have been able to complete the look:

EDIT: leaving it as is for the next little while, slightly neck heavy but not too worried about it. I may upgrade in the future to those new gotoh stealth tuners, they seem really nice. Also, I may reshape the headstock to a more tele-like shape if I can.. thinking about it.
