said it is the best tone he's ever played through and thats with a mesa v30 4x12
wait till he hears the EVs!

he was coming from a mark IV, twin, marshall, and soldano past

really hope to hear it soon!

These were built for Dan Spitz right? The don't appear to available on the Carol-Ann website. Is it a just a tweaked OD2? Did he get it from Dan Spitz?

not sure how he aquired it but ill find out
maybe we can make clips of it?

One day I would like to meet Alan and just talk amps and play pass the guitar, the guy knows some great history of amps.

Triptik and Trip R are my two favorite amps right now !

i suggested tripr or od3r but he must have scored a deal on this one

curious to hear what it sounds like

imagine since it was born during the triptik genesis and slated for dan spitz maybe heavy?

finally got to hear and play the ds-100 today.

the thing is amazing! so totally fat and expressive, and the midrange on the lead channel is just magic.

when my friend showed up with it he had a pedalboard hooked in pre-head and fx loop, but it was sorta in need of tweaking.
his clean was sounding not too clean and the lead was noisy, etc.

chain was:
gtr->tc scf->reverend drivetrain->carl martin hot boost->amp-fx send->boss dd-5->nova reverb->return->4x12 EV cab

using his PRS, he played while i adjusted the fx loop level, and the clean became clean, then fired up the lead channel and dirt got better with a little dialing. but overall i assesed the prs pickups were too hot for my tastes-

but then he pulled out his les paul classic and WOW did we get that thing singing! all i can say is beautiful.
i really started jonesing for my OD2r!!!

then i plugged in my tyler and the cleans got KILLER and just how i remembered, and the lead channel was crunchy as well as fat.

i just uploaded an iphone vid of my friend jamming on it and don't know how it came out but we'll see......

I got a call from Alan last week (we are the New England dealers for Carol Ann) and he told me the 100W Triptik I ordered for the shop in Red Sparkle is "In all the years I have been making amps which is over 800 of them the best sounding amp he's ever made" I was blown away! He took it to Joe Bonamassa to try last week. Cant wait to get it next week.

Sounds great. killer blues/rock tone. I miss my OD2 sometimes

I really like the Triptik clips I've heard. Would love to play one. Alan seems like a cool dude, too.

alan is a great guy and his amps nail the ej/bonomassa lead tones i LOVE as well as vintage fender cleans

i wish he lived in so cal so i could sit with him and have him tweak on a od3r for me!

Maybe you can offer one to Bonamassa - as the Brad King Signature Amp.

Actually though if it's the best sounding he's made so far- must be scary good.

I've been really impressed with the Triptik Clips I've heard as well, guessing they can have even more of that singing gain at lower volumes than the OD2 - and the extra gain sounds very usable and clear..........

so apparently alan made 2
my friend got one and ds got one.

i was actually expecting more metal tone but it wasnt so much except the clean channel could get a bit gnarlier than my od2r

playing it was like visiting and old dear friend and another interesting observation is that i feel like im playing through NOS tubes when i hear thoae tones
no harshness and evenly balanced

i love the feel of those amps and how incredibly well the mid knob shapes the lead tone

A visit to the templar of tone Mentoneman....................I could only wish.

Clips sounds great

Sounds great.

It would be nice to hear riffs and chords instead of all the single note stuff. A range of simple chords to more complex chords really shows me how an amp can sound as opposed to all single notes.

Like I said, sounds great though.

not too shabby for iphoning it in aye?

the more i hear that tone the more i really connect to it, like it could be my favorite lead tone amp of all....

just love how with the mids dipped it get clapton woman tones

and then as you roll it up it gets more of an EJ lead
(gadang he was BLAZING back then!)

and up to more bonomassa chirp like his "Stop" tone
