Welome to the club. I'd pack that Marshall away if I were you! I haven't even looked at my Slo 100 or XTC since I bought my Herbert.
Are you kidding? I have an XTC and an SLO...and I will have a Herbert heading out to me on Monday. I am pretty excited, but never thought it would replace (or, render somewhat useless) my beloved SLO and Bogner!
What do you think of the lead/solo capability of the Diezel compared to the SLO and XTC? That's about the only thing I'm worried about...
Wait 'till you get Herbie, then you'll understand! All 3 amps are fantastic in their own right. Herbert is my go to amp. I recently doubletracked some parts using the Herbert on one side and the Bogner on the other. The Herbert pulled almost the identical sound to the XTC (both on ch 2). When I put the Herbert up next to the Slo, the Slo sounds harsh and icepick like in comparison. I just love the response of the Herbert, it's the only amp I've ever played that responds in real time. It is also outstanding at longeroom volumes.
As for the solo chanels, the XTC has been my favorite, it's so organic and huge, great for legato, but it's drawback is it has a lazy feel/slow response. The Herbert ch3 is a different beast, more dare I say 'Recto territory', more attack, sharper, tighter, smooth very nice. I have only recorded with the Herbert at home so far but I'm sure once I get them in the studio the Herbert will share a fair part on the solo tracks. I love them all like they were my children. If I had to pick one amp it would be the Herbert.
