Just wanted to give big props to my bud Jerry who is one of the best drummers I've had the pleasure of playing with and not a bad guitar player either. He's tech'd for several big acts like Boston and now Prince. Man we had some good times back when we played in our band Ejecta.

Cool gig ...

Can we get a rig run down ?

I just PM'd him that very question on Facebook. I'll report back.

Oh forgot to add one of the rules he has to follow is he can't look Prince in the eye. I'm not kidding. :loco:

That doesn't surprise me. My buddy works for gc, and hes told me of how prince goes about trying to find gear. Apparently, "you don't talk to Prince. You talk to Prince's people and they relay the message to Prince."

Any info on his rig? Amps, cabs, pedals...

and yeah...he's a bit of a weirdo

Awesome, I'd love to know what kind of stuff he's using. He always has a very distinctive overdrive tone. Any more weird rules he has to abide by?

watch the evening with Kevin Smith on youtube for some fuckin nuts Prince stories

It's for his own good. If he looks Prince directly in the eyes he could die.

Funny thing, Prince is actually a JW, and went to the temple not far from my old roommates house in Eden Prairie. His neighbor, who was also a JW would refer to him as "Brother Prince." He showed up at our old keyboard players place too when on missions or whatever they call them.

I'd like to think he is just eccentric but whatever he is his guitar skills IMHO cannot be touched by very many. I also have to give the man mad props for being a studio genius also.

Not the greatest solo ever but massive bad assery.

Prince is 3rd cousin to Medusa, looking at him can turn u to stone ...

It's all fun and games until Prince tosses him in the air at the end of a set

Definitely interested in hear more about his rig. I saw him a few years ago and I'm pretty sure he was playing at least one Mesa. Tone was incredible too. The start of Little Red Corvette was SUPER slow and just him playing guitar. One of the most captivating musical moments I've ever seen live, and in no small part due to the guitar tone.

I understand the position that your friend is in and like it or not, he has to toe the line and abide by "The rules" . Im a huge Prince fan, I think that the guy is true unadulterated genius without peer for the most part but I just couldn't deal with the whackiness. I remember hearing some where that Sly Stallones house staff has to follow the same rules; No direct eye contact. Id take the job just to see what would happen when I did everything that I could to maintain eye contact for as long as possible.

Prince imo is 90% showmanship and 10% musicianship. I've seen this video before and many others, and never seen Prince do anything noteworthy on guitar. ymmv.
