My "once a year" Boss Katana Artist MK II dusting off

I never use it, but I fire it up occasionally. Has an ear-fatiguing frequency, but it's plenty of fun for about 15 minutes.

It's crazy how much better these are than the practice amps I (and all my friends) had as kids

And also crazy how people pretend that Katanas are somehow on the level of legit tube amps or high end modelers, and overrate them so much its ridiculous. (for context, there was a guy on a facebook group that insisted his katana was every bit as good as the larry i owned at the time, and no im not joking)

I guess i shouldn't be surprised that hyperbole is the name of the game on the internet, but it still boggles the mind in it's sheer audacity

The Katanas sound fantastic as a pedal platform (especially for a cheap practice amp) but the weakness is 100% some weird fatiguing frequency that happens on any gainy setting

I don't use digital gear much. I bought a ToneX pedal when it came out a few years ago. Two days ago was the first time I updated it. I have played on it with headphones about a dozen hours since. I might even bring it to band practice this week.

It’s fun to play at once in a while, but it doesn’t react like my other amps. It feels wrong under the fingers😂

Digital I keep hitting the strings harder and it just doesn't react dynamically like tubes.

I think I need a tube interface before the digital. See if I get better response. I have a SAS pedal I should try.

I get the same impression any time I plug into anything Boss Digital. The Tones are ok, but the feel is strange. And then all your suspicious get confirmed within 2 seconds of plugging into something Analog.
