That guitar looks KILLER!!

I'm actually planning something very similar at the moment.. Going to put together a 70's style Strat, heavy relic it, add a floyd and a bridge bucker etc.

Relic'd Strats rule
Thanks Dan!! The relicking isnt a hard thing to do unless you are going for naturally occuring wear and tear. I said screw that and wanted a guitar that looked like it went to war..

I think that the trickiest part will be getting the plastic bits right. Ive read about various techniques; Tea,Coffee, Tobacco etc.. I may have to do a little experimentation to get the right shade..

Im looking forward to the next one but thats a bit of a PITA because the body has that bulletproof poly on it and Im going to have to use a heat gun to strip it...

Very cool!

Best part about it and the whole story is the part about your boy surfing down the street on it. Every time you pick it up to play some notes that story will be there.
Absolutely Ron!!! He's always telling that story..

Looks awesome Kage, I absolutely love old beat to shit guitars, much more so than pretty shiny ones.

Seriously...... Dibs ;)
LMAO Mike!!! I dont think thats going to happen but you got it...

you forgot tuners and strings dude ;)

Looks like its going to be a cool build once complete with the new guard and all singles. Parts mutts rule....

Hey, can I send your son a body for him to kick around the street for me?
Sure Pete, hed friggin love it!!

After digging in the closet of doom, I have enough parts for 3 guitars LOL!!!! 2 strats and my old Ibanez PGM with edge trem. I had beat that thing up pretty badly and wanted to get rid of the fake F holes but I had forgotten all about it. Im looking forward to seeing what I can come up with. I may even try a swirl finish on that one..

looks cool but does that have a floyd and a non-floyd nut?
Its not close to done yet, There will be a locking nut most definitely

Cool looking body...always liked the distressed look
Thanks Rich, it seems to be love or hate with the relic'd look. Im not a fan of minor relicking, for me, it needs to look completely f'd up..

I like your relic concept/process. Many pay extra for that look. You've mastered the technique and now the secret is out.

LMAO!! Im not sure there was much of a concept, process or technique for that matter. I just wanted the thing to look beat to hell and didnt give a damn about what correct wear and tear over years would realistically look like.

Ive got parts for 2 more guitars after this and theyre both going to be variations of the above most likely. I may try my hand at a swirl or even faux marble with one of them. In the end, I want them to play and sound great and thats all that matters.

Hey Kage!

Oh yeah Poly finish is a fucker to try and relic since it's a really hard-wearing finish...

I actually found a website that has info on how to relic the hardware and plastic parts to get a really cool authentic looking vibe. Check it out when you get the chance :

Jeez Kage, dont fk w/ the F holes... thats where all the tone is!!!

I'm pretty sure the Yngwie pups are DiMarzios as well. I think single coils are always the right choice for a Strat and I've only heard good things about DiMarzios. Leave the humbuckers for a Les Paul. I can't wait to give that scalloped neck a go. I can't stand anything smaller than medium jumbos. Are those 6105 frets? Also, ya gotta get rid of the bleached neck look. You could try taking some brown shoe polish to it. Not sure how it would take to satin poly though...

I just ordered a bunch of parts from warmoth and stu mac to make the second pick guard for my squire strat...strat's are a great platform to mess around with..you can have one complete body/neck/hardware package then trick it out in myriad ways just buy screwing with pickups and pickguards...all for the fraction of the price of getting many different guitars
