on it's own, it's so not a high gain type amp in the way players here require.

but it's got such a great plexi roar and tone.

Congrats brobrahbrah! That clips sounds KILLER but I'm betting it's cranked up a wee bit there :D

you know it doesn't have to be THAT loud to sound killer.

but louder is better :D

Congrats Pat. It's just you, Mixohoytian and me still slinging these beasts.

Chub, heck no! I'm still abusing my Peacemaker #0025 and Scorpion #0025, and will never part with them! Especially when you combine those amps with a few of Vic's custom pickups, the wood you get can't be beat!

That's right. I forget you pop in here. You and I have been Mojave owners uninterrupted while these other fickle guys have dumped their Mojave's in favor of other amps that just couldn't fill that Mojave void. :D

i do have to add that this takes nothing away from how incredible an amp the carol ann is

my od2r can actually reproduce all of the core amp tones in eric johnson's 3 amp live rig with scary accuracy. i just add some pedals and a space echo and i'm there.

so the carol ann has that smoother chewier violin/horn lead tone I love and the
ability to switch to such a sweet fender clean

But the peacemaker has the fiery brown Marshall cut with that nuno- graphitti bite meets the lynch-sacred groove rhythm growl, and the vh car horn clarity and chirp, when you figure it out

Wrong, my good man, quite wrong.

Me, I am Peacemaking > Load box > line out > FX return of Marshall.

OCD up front, Time Factor between line out and FX return.

It actually sounds better going into the FRONT of the Marshall on the clean channel, but the hiss/noise makes it unuseable at anything more than bedroom practice levels. But, man, you get all the "Konk, Knock, Chirp, Bloom, on the verge of blow up" you can stand!

I just need a Twin to A/B for cleans...

Atta braddah!

now all that needs to happen is ant to pick up a peacemaker and my favorite 3 rigtalk soloists will possess THE rock amp!

Get with the program ant.
:D

Honestly there are many more here that shred but

A) wouldn't be happy with the lower gain

B) don't have all of the components that separate "fast lick connectors" from true solo masters.
melody, harmony, technique, tone, taste, phrasing, and patience.

did you say you recorded a bunch of peacemaker on your CD?

another peacemaker player/owner i know just sold his...it was the red one on TGP. brian bunn is a great player who definitely grew up on a diet of classic 80s shred, and his band decemberadio's album, "satisfied" was best christian rock album of the year last year, and it is full of peacemaker tone as well. the cd doesn't have super shreddy moments, but he and i jammed backstage and he pulled out a few old school brow raisers.

peacemaker should arrive at mojave ampworks by tuesday!

yay!

in celebration, time for a blast from the past tone break (please excuse the crowd noise and people walking through the shot...):

that was one of the cooler tone and playing moments i've experienced in recent years. mike and robben were in the twilight zone.
one of mike's first gigs with the od100 and robben using the fender amps and zendrive for solos.

Hey Pat - compare a Peacemaker with a early 70s Marshall 100 watt Super Lead. I've gotten the Marshall bug lately, grabbed a '72 SL 100 watt and a '74 50 and am digging them... what would a peacemaker do for me that a good Marshall wouldn't? I'm starting to think about getting Mojave'd. :)

the two things that jump to mind about the PM

1-the fullness of the high frequency tones without being harsh or skinny. each chord and note just seem bigger and more dynamic than the average marshall. treble on most marshalls i've played can become very peaky. treble on the peacemaker seem to ride on a wave of slinky girth. there are certainly a few magic marshalls out there with the perfect airy spank though.

2-the clarity from note to note in chords is another experience i feel is unique to mojaves. you still get attributes inherent to marshalls, the honk and the swirling roar, and the dry crisp bite in the presence, but there is more of that growling harmonic chomp ala panama where the amp throttles open and whips shut, and you just wanna rake chords to hear that glassy pick clang across the strings, morphing into thick brown chesty low E thump that sounds and feels so good when you mute it to a dead halt.

but again, the understanding of mojaves comes by cranking them through preferably a gh30 loaded 4x12, and better yet, wet/dry rig. once you "get it", then it becomes a game of bringing down the volume while maintaining the cranked amp sound and feel.

tracking says vic got it!

fun times ahoy! oh and last night i had my friend neil come over and demo some sick tones out of my carol ann OD2r wet/dry rig and his paul and my strat, with tone press, zendrive, and bb preamp pedals, and the space echo as the delay.

he used to be a manager at wild west guitars, and work at suhr, so the guy knows tone and can PLAY

i'll have to transfer everything to my computer, but dang he tore it up.

Pat,
Yes, my CD is full of Peacemaker tones. I only used the Peacemaker and the Splawn Quick Rod on there. Even though I have three vintage Marshalls sitting right there, none of them were used.

The finished CD's just showed up in the mail today. I need to listen to one all the way through and then put up a big, big, world changing  CD release thread in the next day or two. I expect CD sales well into the double digits worldwide!

dibs on one my man!

rummaging through my computer to make room i found this little gem from the past:

not the fanciest audio, just the camera mic, but quick cool brobro moment with kage and mark cameron at a post NAMM hotel shindig
