... Or maybe I just haven't found the right height of the stock ones. Or It's got nothing to do with pick ups.... I don't know.

I have noticed that some places on the neck it can have quite an undesirable "tin" quality to it. There is a sort of air of thinness that creeps into the sonic spectrum, and I don't like it.

So, in your opinion, would new pick ups help, or would they simply amplify the "tin" sound?

FYI, I am not really into that much high gain metal stuff as far as my own playing is concerned. I like smooth, luscious creamy sounds. Dark even...

Got any recommendations?

Thanks.

Hi Kasper,
In my Carvin CT4 (simil PRS style guitar) I've put in the bridge the SUhr SSH+ and I love It!! Warm and punchy with the right amount of gain and tight, very musical pickup!!
In the neck I suggest you the SSV suhr, for create a right blend!!

BKP ceramic Nailbomb is what you need. It's plenty heavy, but has so much character and warmth. It has also made my Cu24 25th sound absolutely massive.

If you want smooth creamy tones, I would avoid any pickups with a ceramic magnet. You mentioned liking darker tones. You may want to try Motor City Pickups Afwayu, or a Rio Grande BBQ bucker. I have both, and really like them!

+1 ... ! To my ears the sound of Cermaic magnets is like a woman scratching her nails down a chalkboard !

I am really loving the SD '59 bridge/ Alnico Pro II Neck combo in me CE24 right now. They're very touch sensitive. All the way from High gain, drop tuned riffs to smooth leads, to pristine cleans. The guitar can do it all very well with this complement.

+2 unless it's the Dragon 1's in my Custom 22, only Ceramic's I haven't loathed. You want alnico's for sure for creamy, smooth lead tones.

let me know what you decide, i have a Cu24 coming in next week, which i might operate on myself =0

See how the stock pickups hold up when i get it

I'm afraid BKP are very much the exception. My ceramic Nailbomb can definitely do creamy! Though I grant that Alcinos would be the traditional choice in that regard.

Will do

Also... let me know if you hear it too. Not to put a downer or anything on your NGD, but see if it's just me that got a bit of a lemon.

I hated changing the pickups in my CU24. Freaking rotary switches really suck. I tried a few different things but always came back to the HFS and bass. It just worked better for the guitar. I didnt have that 'tin' problem though.

Thought I would bump if anyone has the same issue.

I changed to .11s today. Don't know why I never thought of it before.

What a difference!!! Adjusted the height of the PUs too, recording the difference. Found a nice spot.

The tin is gone, I think!

However... It still doesn't hold tuning very well. But one thing at a time.

Why not recommend an Alnico Nailbomb though? I love mine. It can do pretty much everything and would probably be more what he's looking for.
