well i love the pickup.it sounds like his old sound.it may or may not be an exact copy of the pickup in his original guitar, but it does sound like his old classic sound.it has about the same output as a PAF but its fuller sounding than a PAF,fully bodied sounding.plays great through an old plexi or the new 5153 amp..one thing i did notice it seems to require a ash body to get his tone,it just doesnt work in an alder body at all.those are the only two woods i have tried thus far.i tend to prefer the pickup close to the strings, for its extra bite and output.i think this one will replace my super 70 as my main pickup.for those of you who haven heard it here is a clip of the pickup first slaved at low volumes, then second attenuated at loud volume..here is a link to the pickup..

Sounds good. Does it need more treble though?
i dont think so.when you consider EVH was using jbls and greenback i would say its perfect.i only have the greenback.dave have you heard the isolated clips of the greenbacks and the jbls from the running with the devil track?its nice he never mentioned jbls in his old interviews.honest ED..lol
