Been playing my Soldano SLO 100 a bunch this week as I have decided to keep it in the rig. Something was just a bit off so I pulled it apart and noticed the bias was too low, and the Mesa 6L6 tubes were old and worn out. Retubed and rebiased it with a matched quad of Groove Tubes GTKT66C and wholy Mother Trucker the amp came alive.

The crunch channel with the SRV mode on and my BB Andy Timmons Boost is gorgeous!

I also found a mini toggle between the preamp tubes to turn on and off the FX loop. This is the most loaded SLO around and now with the bias and KT66's it is one of the best high gain heads I have owned.

Right now this and my Bogner 20th XTC with EL34s are my two favorite amps.

That is all. a Few Pics.

Best lead amp on the planet IMO!! I would have loved to snag this one from you

Cool. If I remember correctly, the SRV setting is supposed to simulate a Tubescreamer boost?

It cuts 400hz on the normal channel.

My next amp is either this or a Herbert...............hmmm decisions. :dunno:

SLO has its place fo'shizzle - but between an SLO and a Herbert? Man, the Herb's got way more play... Just sayin'. I had an SLO for a number of years, it's the biz, 80's metal and searing hot lead tones. But the Herbert's got more room.

ANYWAY - nice amp Brad!! Killer... New tubes, new punch - yeeeeeeehaaaaaw

So the Marsha fell from grace? :)

I've gotta try KT66's in it sometime...

One day I would like to try one. They say they have extra mojo.......more mojo than any other Soldano(Deyoung transformers and all). I have had 3 Soldanos and loved them all. The Avenger still kicks ass in my book. Glad to hear you are getting along with the SLO.

I was just going to ask this. I remember you saying something along the lines of, "The Marsha is what every high gain amp builder strives for".

man I really like that slo set up.
It was factory modded to have all the extra switches?
I think it sounds a lot different with the fx loop in or out.
