My turn...what's a great rack effects processor?

These days,I currently switch between a few pedals or a Rocktron Xpression and Ive been able to make the Xpression do whatever I want and I have no idea why some people bash it because I think it SMOKED the TC Gmajor box.(all IMHO) The weakest link on the thing is the pitch shifting for harmonies but Rocktrons never had great pitch shifting and Ive owned the original intellifex and online versions.

Got to agree with Ralph here. I have used an Xpression for 5 years and it has been great for me. No issues, sounds great and easy interface.

Not enough horsepower when one looks dollar for dollar against the Ultra. Serious. And this is coming from an Eventide fanboi.

When Angus brought over that Eventide Eclipse, i was blown away at how much better it sounded compared to anything else i have tried. It literally made the whole rig sound like a frickin 5.1 surround system haha

Careful with the Eclipse. It sounds great and is probably one of the best on the market. But, I found there to be some latency in switching that I couldn't work with. There may be some way to overcome it. Not sure if anyone else noticed it.

For the money, its the old US made Intellifex for me. I haven't even had to adjust the pre-programmed presets. Just switch off the Hush routing and save. Great piece of kit....

Steve, I do notice the latency. But I do work with it, its kinda weird.. One beat before, well depending how fast the song is.. I'll change patches.. so.. I kick it first then kick on other things afterwards. its a timing deal I've come to accept and learn the timing. LOL.. well it give me time to switch other things too i guess is a bonus. HA!

Yeah man the Eventide stuff (and the Lexicon too for that matter) all seem to have the lag when switching presets. Simple way to get around it is to use either a Parallel FX Loop or a Line Mixer. That way when the lag happens, it doesn't mute your rig for the duration of the preset switching lag.

The Intellifex is an excellent unit, and while i do love the high end stuff like Lexicon/Eventide etc... I agree 110% with Ralph that nobody will notice a difference when you're playing in a live situation.

I actually use an old Roland RSP-550 for Reverb/Delay and it works perfectly fine and sounds great. If I'm only using Delay, then I'll stick with my Roland SDE-1000 as that thing is just killer sounding and dead simple to setup

There was a setting I changed on my eclipse that stopped the dropout. I only have the patch lag.

True.. no one will really know playing live. unless its a harmonizer thing, which avoid by having another guitarist.
