Watching some of the GnR`induction into the hall of fame. I just don`t see it.. yes he can theoretically hit some of the notes but to my ear he lacks the control and misses a lot of really cool dips that Axl did. He also has this shrill vibrato that grates on the ear. Seriously.. he is Kirk Hammet`s vibrato in the vocal world. How can they stand playing a show with this guy. I could not make it through any of the songs.

He's doing great and living the dream.
So you don't like him. Why do you have to bust on a good guy making a living playing music?
There a plenty of people who truly suck out there and Myles Kennedy ain't one of them.

I think the dude is one of the best rock singers out there. I have seen him live with Slash and the dude has serious control and range.

^This... to boot: he's humble as all get out. Ya, he does kind of have the billy-goat vibrato, but hey, so does Stevie Nicks. I don't see anybody busting her balls, or Fleetwood Mac's.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, although I'm seemingly in the minority so far. I can't stand his voice either. Every time I hear it I immediately drop everything and change the station. He kind of reminds me of a worse version of the singer from shinedown, which I personally don't care for either :aww:

So what if he's living the dream? That argument is SO old and played out. There are plenty of other vocalists and musicians that suck badly that are "living the dream". Look at all the whiny emo screamo kids in skinny jeans touring the world right now :scared:

Got to respectfully disagree with you. I think he is one the greatest voices to come around in a long time. Fantastic live.
However...

I like him much better in Alter Bridge. IMO, The soaring, melodic, uplifting kind of vibe AB have suits him much more than the sleazy, bluesy, dirty rock n' roll brand that Slash/GnR exemplify.
I just don't "buy" him in that role as much. Don't get me wrong, I think some of the stuff he's done with Slash, particularly Starlight and Anastasia, kick ass.

As far as him singing Gn'R- sure it's not Axl. But Axl can't even do Axl no more, plus MK sings in a way that he'll be able to continue to do it for years to come. I know MK has a tonal "placement" that turns some off to him, but that's getting in to personal taste. You can't deny he has great chops IMO.

Check out this AMAZING performance of AB's song "Watch Over You"

Other than Brent Smith(who has lost his voice the two times I've seen him) MK is the best new vocalist I've heard in the last 10 years. I love his vocals on all 3 AB records, not as much on the Slash stuff but you can't argue with his tone/talent. To each their own, however...

Glad to know I haven't lost as much top end in my hearing as I thought I had because you deaf motherfuckers are not hearing the intensely un-nerving, teeth chattering tone that is Myles Kennedy. I cannot stand his voice. He seems like a nice dude and obviously a "team" player for Slash but he's pretty much anti rock n roll. He's so damn mild mannered and safe. His mic stand is more dangerous looking and that's only if Iggy Pop were to use it before Slash goes on stage.

Slash, as much as I like his playing style (also seems like a pretty nice dude), I find his song writing so hit or miss. So it ain't MK sinking his ship for me. Half the songs are doing it before Myles even opens his yapper. He just seals the deal though.

Compared to all the death metal and shit coming out these days where vocalists sound like they are taking one up the ass, I think MK is exceptional. Good front man, spot on pitch, hard worker and can play guitar to boot.

I can't stand him or any of the boring, pedestrian bands he plays in. Just so lacking in imagination.

For me he's one of the best rock singers out there! I also like him with Slash!

No kidding...

I hate Cookie Monster vocals if anything. MK gets the job done.

Fantastic singer...one of the all time greats. I really appreciate that he doesn't sound like one of the kiddy crowd cookie monster dweebs.

Everyone either hates or loves him. Me, I think he's ok. I can listen to about 6 songs then he starts to get annoying. I like the guy from Shinedown a LOT more though.

Since cookie monster and emo faggit vocals are popular, it sucks that there's not more guys out there in the style of MK.

No shit, the `living the dream`thing is def. played out. Kirk sucks and everyone bashes him on here yet `he`s living the dream``. This post isn`t about living the dream. It is a typical day to day rig talk post that is just as relevant as how overpriced a SLO is or how awesome Ritchie Kotzen is. Bottom line for me, this guy is horrible. I can`t get through a song and I change the station everytime. He needs more soul, not high end. I`m breaking up with you guys! :gay:

Exactly.

I don't mind him, but the again, I have no idea who he is..

One of the all time greats??? lol, are you serious? You put him up there with Dio or the tone of a guy like Ray Gillen or a guy who could hit pure highs like Joe Lynn Turner? Guys that took me two seconds to think of who had voice control, tone, and could hit the highs without sounding like they are singing through their nostrils.

He's hit or miss IMO. And yes, his upper notes are a bit harsh...
