Wondering the same... How does one get from Myles Kennedy to Death Metal? Uh, you don't. Two entirely different worlds and they don't mix. People listening to Death Metal aren't listening to Myles. And I'd venture a guess the reverse is just as true.

I've seen the concert on DirecTv... Slash w/ Myles or whatever it's called. He's a good vocalist. Not what I'd consider great, but who cares what I think. I'm a cookie monster loving douchebag!

I think the best thing MK has done is Alter Bridge's Blackbird. His singing on that is great.

The albums since then, he seems to high and piercing.

That chick sounded decent enough but just reminds me of someone off that rockstar supernova bullshit , with all the the right moves and look etc but a shell of a true rockstar

bumblefoot is another guy that fits the miles bill.....can play but no rock swagger....christ I'd hate to see what music/riffs that guy would bring forth

I think the dude is one of the best rock singers out there. I have seen him live with Slash and the dude has serious control and range.

Yeah man, this is it. If wanted to do the stuff exactly like Axel, he could. Technically, he mops the floor with Axel. He's got one of the best voices in rock right now.

As for no balls....obviously you're not a singer.

And Daneo, I'm surprised you like Brent from shinedown that much better. I like Brent a lot too, but I find their tone and range to be very similer. I'd probably agree that Brents tone is a little more pleasing but, not by much. I think they are two of the best singers in rock right now. If you ever get a chance, check out Jacob Bunton on the new Adler CD. The guy is a great singer and a kick ass guitarist. They don't bill him as the lead guitarist but he almost all the songs, played almost all the guitar on the album and most all the solo's. It's amazing how good this guy is and hasn't caught the right break yet

Brent doesn't get annoying like MK does.

But, I think Ian Thornley smokes them both. Singing AND Guitar playing AND songwriting.

Myles called me, and said he was very upset that you didn't want to listen to his music. We had a crying session, and at the end he said he was going to sell off his guitars in favor of some 8 strings and an Engl Fireball and write a 2 hour album composed of three songs.

To each their own. I find Brent from Shinedown way more annoying than Myles. I get that some people aren't into MK's tenor voice, or the "baby in a blender" sound as some say, but I'd still take him over any singer mentioned in this thread...probably one of the better live singers I've seen. Thornley is pretty damn good, too, but I don't think he was as spot on as Myles was. MK says he warms up for an hour to 90 minutes before a gig and it shows...

Unfortunately the type of register-blending vocal technique guys like Brent, Chris Cornell, and Sammy Hagar use is not conducive to either long term singing or heavy touring, and it shows. Neither of them sound like they used to.

Unfortunately Chris didn't, and many years of alcohol abuse didn't help. So he's had to learn to hit those high notes using a different technique, and unfortunately he lacks power and authority in his voice when he goes high. Just compare early 90's performances of "The day I tried to Live" with live performances of the same song from Download fest 2012 and similar festivals. He uses almost pure falsetto now, as opposed to reinforced falsetto.
