Don't usually do NGDs here as I play a bunch of weird shit, including 8 strings and downtuned baritones and LPs, but figured this was right up RTs alley...kind of shocked I got it myself.

Always been a LP guy and always will, but I dig having light guitars around just to grab and write with.
Sold my EVH a while back for bday $ for my woman, and missed it. I'll snag another soon.....until then, I had a guitar I wasn't using at ALL because for some weird reason I just wasn't feeling it; a buddy offered me this in trade and I figured at the worst I'd just have another guitar that sits there I don't touch. Glad I took the deal. Charvel Model 1 with an EVH Wolfgang in the bridge.
I seriously LOVE this pickup in basswood.....light guitar + Wolfgang = brutally heavy tones with clarity. EVH knows what he's doing for sure with regards to gear, this thing sounds HUGE. The whole guitar is loud as fuck acoustically as well.
Only thing I'll have to do is move the volume pot/knob as I'm hitting it when I'm going nuts playing metal. Stable trem, Jackson tuners are actually really great, whole thing just works.
Finding out after a few years of buying and trading that even though I love LPs, basswood guitars just work for me 95% of the time. Good thing too, since you can find them for cheap most of the time.....even the EVHs are $500 or so used. There are a lot worse guitars out there for the money.
If you see a Model 1 and haven't tried one (even though that's pretty much statistically impossible given that this is RigTalk
), give it a shot. Slim neck, 1.625" nut width, simple machine that works for short $.
