Been wanting a strat for a while....my LP is my #1, but damn that bastard gets heavy after 2 hours...wanted something different, so thought up a metal strat.....one pup, no blues on this, just brutal heavy riffs.
Wanted to do it on a budget, so chose parts accordingly (read, cheap). Got most of what I was after for half price....budget for this was under $400...ran a little over, but still kept it under $500....Warmoth neck, ebony, stainless, and discontinued HS painted matte black...Warmoth one pup guard, CTS pots, BKP Painkiller, and a reliced nitro finished alder (?) strat body I scored on eBay for cheap. Tung oil on the neck, locking GFS tuners and a Hipshot bridge, set up for drop C and we're done!
My guy filled the back with walnut and drilled for a string thru setup......after a few tweaks, this thing is a monster. The action is silly low with no buzz anywhere....the Painkiller is a stellar piece of hardware; I had to write to Tim/Ben and let em know how good this thing is. The clarity with the intense amounts of gain I threw at it was incredible. This will be my new go to metal pup for a while, I can tell. Sorry for the lame pics, but I'm not in the mood for the Nikon, so you get iPhone-in-a-chair pics. Check it, it's ugly:

Noticed after playing it for an hour or so last night that the pickup was in backwards....sounds great as is, so not gonna mess with it lol....pretty sick machine for under 5 bills that weighs literally half of what my LP does, and I can take it to jams and not worry about spilled whiskey.
