You gotta post 'em here. That's mandatory.I’ll PM you clips when I make them. I can say also through my Altec 417C’s it’s like RR on steroids lol. Similar result in that sense with the OG Langner modded 2204 I had
Would love to see you get into Mesa’s too. Like modding a recto or mark series amp to be more badassYep, I have a Super-Hi too. Between that amp (which I've modded) and my modded Super Trem, I'm basically set

Could be different tastes. The UU was an amp that ticked those boxes you mentioned of what I don’t like 10-11/10 lol. Maybe we describe or interpret things differently, but a good late ‘70’s JMP2203 is exactly what a juicy, rich midrange is to me. Yes it’s not high gain or tight, and missing some other things, etc, but has that quality to its sound. Boost it and it almost gets where I wanted. The Langner mods got me there, much better than what I was going for with them boosted. No other mods I’ve had maintained that quality I look for in the midrange even those other 2 mods I still love (Morin and Snorkler). They all seemed to in some way get hollowed out or distant in that region vs stock, basically compromising what I love about Marshall’s in the first place vs other amps in what they offer. Kinda like if Larry’s were not tight, sharp or Recto’s not having the throaty growl or thick low mids why would you want them lol or if lemons lost their bite/zing. The GZ I had (and what I heard in all other clips) seem to especially get rid of that midrange quality. I can totally see the appeal in other areas for why others love them (tight without being clanky or too sharp, modern, clear, pretty balanced), but if we’re talking juicy or growly mids or warmth, it was as far away on the other side of the spectrum I can imagine. Whether that’s a good or bad thing is just taste, but not what I care for except for maybe a good Hermansson in its own way being to me very cool. Like you, I don’t like to read too much into clips, but if I can clearly hear a hollowed, smoothed out midrange in every clip I hear and of what I had, I gotta imagine it’d only be more pronounced to me in personWe of course all have different ears and tastes for sure and you and I have talked about it a lot over the years. I totally understand your comments about amps being sterile, overly filtered, cardboard, plastic.
Flat, synthetic, processed, inorganic, cold & sterile, lacking warmth...those are the terms I use that I think mean the same thing. I don't care for amps with those qualities either. There can be some other good things about amps like that but overall I tire of them real quick. Especially when you A/B them next to amps with the opposite qualities.
The MOAB+ I have is 180 degrees from any of those terms. I can be the most juicy fun to play aggressive but warm amp with great organic qualities and great clarity or it can be the most open, raw, punchy tone I've heard out of any Marshall, or any other amp for that matter. I'd go as far as to say it also has a level of articulation and definition that surpasses even any Wizard.
Its more organic-natural-warm and at the same time aggressive than anything else I've had...including every single Wizard. Is the one I got somehow different from others? I have no idea, but this one is about the best tone and feel from an amp of the many I've owned.
I'll end this rant in pure RigTalk fashion...My tone search is over, no more GAS, I'll never buy another amp again, this is it, I'm done, its the best amp I've ever played in my life, but my MOAB+ will be for sale next month...LOL!
EDIT: If my wife could read the above statement, she'd die laughing or punch me in the dick, or both, because she knows how sick in the fuckin head we all are on this site and full of shit we are, no matter how much we think we mean it when say "that's it, I'm done, no more amps...LOL!

Yeah the one I had had the same type of voicing I remember of the DCP-1 I had, but I don't like the sound/feel of rack preamps, so the modded Marshall was way better for me. The Langner Brutus poweramp also has this similar kind of thing going on in the mids. Seems to be something in common with the Langner stuff I've hadI don't hear a ton of similarity. I don't know what his mod entails but it sounds like he went in a different direction. Langner's original, bare bones Marshall mod is very similar to a stripped-down DCP-1. But the version I do keeps more of the original amp's voicing and feel, while at the same time gaining a bit more growl and girth in the mid range and toning down the sizzle a bit. You can still dial the amp's EQ for more sizzle and bite. But that's not my personal style.

Yeah, you're right. This is a NAD thread, congrats on what sounds like a killer amp!Could be different tastes. But anyway, this thread is meant more about loving this mod and I shouldn’t have made it as much about hating on stuff I don’t prefer lol, but was meant more to highlight why I like this mod as a comparison reference. It is very different in sound/feel than all those others mentioned. Maybe others who like those mods will feel the opposite of me. You never know lol
100% agreed. You discovered it way before I did lol. For me I've doing this for about 16 years and had over 160 amps I've been through, played countless more than that that weren't mineI bet it crushes
Of all the mods I’ve had that 5 stage Langner is still my favorite, and that’s for 30+ years and a metric shit ton of amps that were great amps
I have some that roll off and clean up better, the 5 stage circuit doesn’t do that at all. But that’s ok. It’s a put your foot on their neck and apply pressure until they fold amp100% agreed. Agreed. Honestly as picky as I am about many things, I really never cared at all how well amps clean up with volume roll backs. To me that's not at all what I mean when I say an amp has good dynamics and IME will never rival the very best clean amps I've played, but I get functionally a nice thing to have for those that find it useful. I'm just not a practical guy at all and just look for 10/10 in any department I can find, not 7-8'sI have some that roll off and clean up better, the 5 stage circuit doesn’t do that at all. Thank you! Honestly for me at least I did love the Cameron mods back when I had them (5 different ones, played many many more) and for a few years they were my favorite mods sending many other amps packing, but eventually got other amps I liked more. For modded Marshall’s the only ones I actually have liked more were this, the OG Langner mod I had, and the Morin & Snorkler mod, but those are different flavors (amazing flavors though)This is great to hear Sam. Super happy you got what you wanted. Also, sorry not sorry but happy to hear of yet another amp modder that can destroy a Cameron mod variant. Such an overhyped amp that barely delivers on its promise.
