there seems to be a recurring theme here that looks like it's working for me tone wise....Peavey's and Splawn cabs. my main amp has been the 3120 (with 6L6s) into the splawn 4x12 with Hellatone V30s and i'm beyond happy with that. it easily replaced my powerball and my dual recto that came before it. my other setup was a GSP1101 into an ART SLA-2 power amp into the other V30 loaded snakeskin splawn cab. the problem i had was that i was only using the 5150 sim, a few clean sims, various FX for each and none of the other high gain sims on the GSP which is a bit of a waste for a modeler that could do so much more. so what's the logical solution? no, not just staying as it has been....buying a real 5150, since it matches my cab :D .

running the 5150 and the GSP in 4 cable method is great since i now have a much better clean channel on a 5150 by bypassing it's pre and using one of the ones in the GSP. i'm still yet to scratch the surface of tones with this thing or even get it 100% dialed in yet but i figured i'd share some pics now...

The other reoccuring theme is animal print! Amp, cab, pedal boards, straps!

J/K

Cool setup, I'd like to find a cheap 3120 or 5150.

yeah another reoccuring theme is how neat you are!! My gear looks like a road wreck LMAO

HNAD!! After doing daves mods, my 5150 is leaps and bounds better than before. Been looking at the 3120/xxx lately too.

racer_j...yeah, i have a little bit of an animal print fetish. i just blame it on being born a few months before MTV was born and sitting in my crib near the TV as my older brothers watched

yup, i'm a bit OCD with my gear. i figure if i'm going to spend all that money i might as well keep it nice. easy to do since i'm sadly not gigging anymore.

as for XXX/3120 or 5150. i'd take the 3120 if i could only have one.

here's the whole room, older pics before 5150. i forgot i never posted them here when i finished the room remodel...

Another recurring theme, no matter how many high gain heads a guy has there's always an old Fender around.

What speakers do you have in the Splawn cab (I didn't read the whole thread)? I'm going to pick up a 5150 at some point. I have suspicion that it might sound great with my Splawn 4x12 with SB25's.

license plate above the door

there's a reason i have the love is for suckers album up there and the HOT LOVE plate above the door, because my fathers highly modified 1982 corvette was the costar of the "Hot Love" video and my brothers 1969 pro street camaro the "Quarter Pounder" was also in it. i was there (as a kid mind you, i was around 6 or so) for the filming of the majority of the video. i have a handful of behind the scenes pictures from it.

funny thing about that plate, if you watch the video you'll see they forgot to change the plate sometimes and in some scenes it reads "HOT LOVE" and in others it's my father's plate "NO JOSHN" (his name is Josh and the vette was seriously no joke...built engine, supercharged with nitrous)

here's the vid...

my brother is the one who throws his hands over his head and makes the "ohhhh" face after the first race at the start of the video

my brother's '69 camaro is the one she waves on to race at around 2:45 in the vid.

thus why i have the most obscure TS album on my wall...although i really do love that album even though it's not really TS and it's Reb Beach on guitar but he's just a monster player.

i tried to buy that jackson kelly from the video from Eddie a few years back but he already sold it to a friend.

here's on of the pics...

thanks for the compliments on my obsession guys

yeah you need an old fender to keep you in check. that '67 vibrolux and the '79 JMP too were both handed down to me from my older brother.

and yes i love Charvel's and have a slight wah obsession too

the cabs both have V30s in them. the black one has broken in hellatone versions and the other one just an old broken in set. the marshall cab has the original late 70s G12-65s.

I must be weird........but the whole video I was Eye ballin the Kelly myself and not the chick or the car!

Well Dee does look hot in them Skin tight jeans........

:hys:
