I was told that Dave added a darker tone stack to this one. It is not as bright as my Quick Rod, but I tend to dial in amps on the darker side. It is the loudest 60 watt amp that I have ever played.crwnedblasphemy":v11ba3ad said:I used to own the B60...nice amps. A little bright for me, but still sounded killer.

It is more modern in a sense that it has the Gain B option with the boost, but I can get the two of them to sound almost identical. The Quick Rod just has so much more volume that makes it sound bigger. I can't say which one I prefer right now, but I will say that the Baron has a wider range of tones. They are honestly very close, and after tweaking the two of them, I can pretty much dial in the same sounds, but the feel of each amp is different. The Baron also seems to have a more musical/harmonic type of tones. The only way I know how to explain the difference is that the Splawn is raw and full of punch, but the Baron sounds more polished and 3D overall. I have only played it in my home, but as soon as I get it to our rehearsal space Tuesday, I will give you a better opinion. The Barons cleans are way better than the Splawn, I was surprised by the cleans for sure.KentC":3rehcpax said:How do you like the sound compared to the QR? Im asking because I had a QR and sold it to try other things and I have been looking at Baron off and on lately. I really like the BM series that Dave makes. Is the distortion more modern than the Splawn? I love the clean on the Barons, sounds very bright and 3D sounding.

It was a one off for a friend, who promised not to sell it, and hence he did.

Ouch
Why would a friend request an amp looking like another company's amp anyway? That doesn't seem appropriate

Your right, that is why I won't do it anymore, I was basically begged to do it.

This amp has shown up in Knoxville tn. Other than the grill and lettering is there anything different about this particular amp?shane159":1zerms84 said:Picked this Baron B60 today. This is a fantastic sounding amp. I have not had much time with it, but I am digging it so far. The footswitch for this thing is great. It controls every function on the amp except the bright switches.
