This amp is #336 (triangle triangle circle), which according to Charley at Bogner (one of the nicest guys around) was made on February 18, 2004, which makes it a later Rev 2. The low end on this thing is ridiculous. Darker tonality, tons of saturation and a bit saggy (not tight, which is kinda cool). Boosted its low end is huge, but still tight. Me likey very much. It breathes in a way the Twin Jet doesn't... can't put my finger on it. More of a "wet" tone, as compared to the TJ which is very dry. Overall the Rev 2 is nastier and more evil sounding, while the TJ is more aggressive and has more bite. The Rev 2 is missing some features I like, such as the FX volume pot, external bias points, and external bias pot. For some reason it feels a lot lighter in weight than my TJ. Both amps are absolutely killer... I'm actually somewhat bittersweet because I like both of them so much!

Comparison clips coming next week after my vacation!

By the way, does anybody happen to know how to replace the little lamp that lights up the channel light?

Congrats! Do you like the rev 2 more than the blue you used to own?

Most definitely. The Rev Blue had this bright upper midrange spike that wasn't my thing at all. Very flubby as well, even boosted. I'm glad I got rid of it, because these two amps with their darker voicing are what I was looking for. The Rev 2 just has this smear that's hard to describe... not really much of an amp for tight, fast riffs (the Twin Jet with KT88's is better for that) but for just slow, pounding power cords this thing is hard to beat. Nastiest amp I've ever heard.

BTW, fixed the bulb issue... amp is now in perfect working and cosmetic order. :)

Got to play both today. I had the KT88's in the Twin Jet, so it was stock. With the same settings (the master depth at 2:30 and presence at 10:30, which is sort of neutral) the Twin Jet is a lot more scooped, tighter, and more sensitive. The Rev 2 is chunkier, looser, and has more mids. Makes sense, given the differences between the EL34 and KT88. The Rev 2 also sounds better at lower volumes.

nice rig, i have been wanting to try a twinjet lately.

congrats, man! your description sounds pretty dead on with how i hear my rev 2. the low end has some give to it, but thats what seems to make it so deep and 3D.

i spent part of this afternoon dialing in the intonation on my Zakk LP today. first time ive done that...and man, did it make the notes pop out in the upper frets. i feel like a moron for not looking into it sooner. :D

over the years, ive wanted to track down an slo and a vht/fryette UL to try out. but, because i love the thick chewy sound of the uber and dual rec, i dont know if i would really dig them or not. it sounds like i dont really need to look for a twin jet if its dryer and lacks the depth of the rev. 2.

thanks for your comparison between the rev 2 and twin jet.
