Damn dude you're a Diezel disciple. It's beautiful isn't it?

picture is sideways. It is a work of art. cant see the cab is that a bugera? Kidding enjoy it.

VH4 is the poster boy when it comes to Diezel and gets a lot of love, but the Herbert is the best amp Peter makes.

Tubes, JJ KT77's. I've ran winged C EL34's, too much compression and mids. KT88's were cool, big tight low end. Hard on amp and not as warm sounding as KT77's. I don't do the preamp tube swap thing. I just retubed mine with whatever Peter called for, which I believe was Ruby.

I fondly remember my Herbert and I miss it at times. A fantastic sounding amp...but Jesus it weighs a metric ton!

Enjoy blowing the walls down!

I love a blend of 4 JJ 6l6gcs and 2 Ruby el34bht. Sounds great. Ruby 12ax7s are what i'm running right now. (Peter suggested set)
One main trick i learned with Herbert is getting the preamp volumes up around 12-1 o clock. For some reason it just sounds better when you get them up there then master volume around 10 o clock. Mid-cut around 10 o clock.

You're on a roll Reza!! Congrats. Now you can make a Maximum the Hormone cover video

I actually started with the Herbertz I wouldn't mind owning one again but my heart is with the vh4... Just suits me better. I do have a deep love for the Herbert though. I mean... That's how I got my name.

Don't forget to spend some time playing with the first channel. Best cleans ever on a high gain amp IMO.

Congrats brother!!

I honestly thought you had one already.Herbrt was the first Diezel I bought and I've never looked back. I have an early Hagen as well. Herbert was my number one for a LONG time. Been using some modeling recently for ease of use...plus, no way am I bringing these amps out to clubs, NO WAY!!!

Just profiled my Herbert with a Diezel V30 4X12 last week...it's just AMAZING. Now just gotta get it done with my K100 as well. Hagen will be next, with both cabs.
Herbert is such a versatile amp, I took quite a few profiles just to have the variety of gain, mid cut, etc.

Sounds like you're getting acquainted, ROCK ON!!!

Channel 2 option 1 in Plus mode:
gain: 13:00
volume: 14:00
treble: 15:00
mid: 12:00
bass: 12:00
Midcut: intensity: 08:00 and level: 13:00

Channel 2 option 2 in Minus mode:
gain: 16:00
volume: 14:00
treble: 10:00
mid: 15:00
bass: 10:00
Midcut: intensity: 08:00 and level: 13:00

Option 1i love for a rock/metal rythem, i adjust my gain a bit depending on how dirty i want it. As is i use it for both and for lead playing.
Option 2: a fat lead tone for just about anything.

Pressence and deep depends on my master volume and the cab thats used.

I loved the sed winged C EL-34 tubes. Now im using Ruby EL34BSTR and they rock. A vew years back i had the 6550 combo and i never had such a punch, cleans where amazing to. I also mixed the 6550 with the el34 but in the end 6 EL34 is best for me.

I hope the settings are of some help to you. I love the mid-cut but use it with caution, the lower intensity lets me still sit good in a mix and adds weight to my overall tone.

I guess a killer vid will be posted soon ;)

I really like the Herbert with 6550's. Tight and articulate. Great amp!

Pssssst, cleans were dope on the Hagen too

Congratz Reza!!!!

Still need one of these. Have hagen, fokker and einstein. Wondering how different herbie is other than headroom.

I played it once and man. I wish I had more time with it. The mid cut was amazing and the heavies crushed my rib cage. It seemed a little too compressed for me but again, I wish I had more time with it.

You should make a Wizard/Herbert stereo track.

When is the MK3 coming out?

no one knows. its just something that was mentioned in passing when I talked to Peter from Diezel.
I DO know they are making a custom shop and taking direct orders now, I believe you will be able to add MANY options and tolex etc.

You had me at CUSTOM!

As mentioned, the Herbert is very different than the other Diezel amps. I am looking forward to either a mk3 Herbert, or something new that is similar to the Herbert. Probably will replace my VH4 in my rack rig in my avatar with whatever comes out.

VERY different. its Very SMOOTh and SUPER Heavy, its the MOST HiFi sounding Diezel by far. the ability to have different pairs of power tubes is really awesome. The clean channel is easily the CLEANEST Diezel Clean, and the mid cut just adds such addictive flavor. Also, it is SUPER loud. Find a MK1 model if you can, the transformers are higher quality than the MK2 and it definitely is apparent in the tone.

OR wait for the upcoming MK3 version, which will be going back to these transformer types.

So I can be happy to own a MKI with external bias? :D
